i just want an os on my hd so i can use it ive been messing with this pos for a few days now

I used a thumbdrive to reload my macbook pro a few months ago. I just can't remember if I made the thumbdrive on my PC or if I used my old macbook air.

ya, I am pretty sure I used the Air since this is the instructions I followed.

Since you have a working Mac system, use this to make a USB installer from the App Store download: http://diskmakerx.com/
