Dragging the slider in the Windows Mobility Center does nothing. Changing the default brightness settings in the power plan settings does nothing. The keyboard shortcut for adjusting the brightness moves the sliders, but doesn't actually affect the display in the slightest.

I'm running Home Premium on a HP nx6325. The graphics adapter is the ATI x1150.

The display brightness thing worked perfectly under Windows XP. Is this a monitor driver problem or a graphics adapter driver problem? Or a Vista problem? I have the latest drivers for everything.

I did have to install older XP drivers for the touchpad to get the left+right=middle button thing working, so I'm thinking something similar would be required. But I'm somewhat scared of botching the whole system by installing bad monitor or graphics adapter drivers.
