This is just a quick test between the Canon 85L f/1.2 and the Sigma 85mm f/1.4. The images were done in jpg and cropped. I used ISO 800, with ambient lighting. The camera was setup on a tripod and triggered remotely.

I found that the Sigma performed admirably against one of the holy trinity, the fabled 85L f/1.2 II. The Sigma to me was sharper at all f stops. I just tested it to f/2.2, because you buy these lenses for their wide aperture. For $899 vs the Canon’s $1800-2000, it gets the job done. I can live without that extra 1/2 a stop. Again this is just IMHO.

Did you need to MA the Sigma??? Somehow, I don't believe Sigma has ironed out their AF issue. Recently, I have my Sigma 50 calibrated by Sigma. I drove there and waited about an hour or so. It was nice. It turned out the typical waiting period is about 2 weeks if I did mail it in....

No I did not need to MA the Sigma. It's still at 0. I might use my lens align/calibrate tool this weekend. But it's pretty sharp so far. But I will be able to play around this during my Christmas vacation, but I am at work today :(

I am using a EE-D on my 5d mark II. But mine is working great. Not sure about Victor...

A lot faster than the 85L f/1.2 II. It's pretty fast and accurate...
