Can you play DTS CD thru a DAC + 2 channel speaker system (no receiver)

In my workout room, my setup is DVD player to DAC, DAC to 2 active speaker

Currently I can't play this DTS CD.

I can play this DTS CD in my other room where I have 5.1 chnl. sys. w/ a receiver. But my speaker in the workout room is much better.

If you cannot tell your DVD player to always output two-channel/stereo audio, you'll need something to decode it like this:

However, I would recommend doing due diligence to ensure you're not losing audio quality.

my DAC doesn't input analog audio. Its input is either digital Co Ax, Optical toslink or USB

and I think if a DVD player can't decode a DTS CD to 2 chnl., then I'll just won't buy DTS CD. It's good to know as I only have one so far.

Yeah, the suggestion by |Tch0rT| would replace your DAC, thus my recommendation.

You can setup your dvd player to output PCM vs bitstream, try that before you buy a new DAC. You'll probably have to hook it up to a TV or monitor though to get to the setup menu.
