Can this wireless router be used as effectivly as a wired router?

Well my router..

Just died. I figured I might as well go wireless for future proof but would rather stay wired for the time being.

So my question is...can this wireless router be used in the same fashion as the above router without any problems? Basically can it be used as a wired router hassle free although its a wireless router?

short answer: yes....

long answer: if you want to "future-proof", I'd probably get a wireless N router... most will have at least 4 wired ports, and do N and B/G..... maybe something like this...
 
Proper usage of a wireless router as a wired-only router means turning off the wireless. Most wireless routers give you this option, but some might not. The manuals are usually available on-line, so you can check the details that way.

If they don't give you the option to turn off the wireless, either (a) don't get it or (b) ensure that the wireless security is enabled using WPA at minimum with a long randomized key.

Many routers come with the wireless enabled and unsecured by default, with well-known SSID, admin name and password. This facilitates hacking to such a degree that it can't really be called hacking.
