Hi friends!

Can i use an Intel i7 9th Gen in my Motherboard which has an intel i3 7th Gen, considering that both processors have the same socket (1151 LGA) ?
Thanks in advance!

Cheers!

Nope. The 7th gen CPUs uses 1151 (v1) and 9th gen uses 1151 v2 socket. While having the same pin number, they have different layouts.
Hi AlexisRO, thanks for your response.
So, the better processor my motherboard would support should be up to i7-7700k, correct ? bellow are my PC config screenshots. Thanks in advance!

Technically, yes. However I cannot find much info on that motherboard. CPU TDP may become an issue here depending on how mobo is built. At this point i'd drop an email to Lenovo support and see what they say about a potential CPU upgrade.

It can be a problem with these proprietary motherboards and potential locked bioses. Also make sure that the PSU (i'm guessing proprietary as well ) handles everything.

You may have a limit on the tdp as said above for that oem motherboard. I’d ask Lenovo before I bought a 7700k. You may end up needing a t variant of the cpu you pick up.
