I have a Samsung LED TV UN60ES7500 with a built in camera. I picked this TV specifically for its ability to run Skype in the living room. I have family all over and it is great to be able to sit on the sofa with the kids and skype. Some time ago Skype removed support 'for TV app'. I'm tired of holding up my phone and want to get Skype back on the TV, how can I make this happen?

I think I can't simply install it on my TV but I can think of a number of alternatives. First I thought of an Amazon Fire Stick, it think it runs android so it should be able to work. I searched the Q&A on amazon and it seems this is not the case. Will a 'fully loaded' fire stick support skype? What about another android box? I would think that any android box would be able to support skype, but with they support the web cam built into my TV?

they support the web cam built into my TV?

I don't think anything will ever support that. Camera is likely accessible by the "Smart" controller of the TV and that's it.

Likely need a stand-alone device with it's own camera. Fire Stick looks like a no go...

Can anyone else confirm that an android box would not have access the TV's built in camera?

Only solution I saw suggested in the Skype community forum thread about this issue was to follow this guide:
https://smarttvmanuals.jimdo.com/samsung/how-to-install-skype-on-your-samsung-smart-tv/ (Note I do not own a Samsung tv so I have not tried it myself)

There is also a project to "hack" Samsung tv firmware but I have no idea if it offers a solution to access the built in camera https://wiki.samygo.tv

Edit: It appears the jimdo link is basically a compilation of resources from the samygo forum thread: https://forum.samygo.tv/viewtopic.php?f=74&t=10374 you may want to source the original files there

A suggestion for an alternative might be a xbox one with a kinect, but defeats trying to use your existing hardware.

That does defeat the purpose and I don't have a kinetic.
It is disappointing I can't use skype on the TV and their is an alternative software or work-around.
