Can anyone suggest a good SP game? I prefer a game that is available now, but anything releasing soon would also be appreciated.

Thanks.

edit: PC games.

I'm looking for something modern, I have an X850 XT PE so I'm hoping for something out recently that has nice visuals, but also a good story.

max payne will keep you busy for days (or hours if you get too addicted)

great story line, fun, violent, overall awesome.

Any Command and Conquer.

Except Red Alert 2 and Generals, since they are made by EA and not Westwood.

And EA is the devil.

Try Psychonauts, it has the same writer as a bunch of those old Lucas Arts adventure games like Sam and Max so it has a similar feel. It's a Platformer (rare for PC) and extremely fun plus has graphics to work your X850 out. About 14-16 hours of gameplay. You should be able to get it for like $19-30 new as well.

A good one just coming out is Indigo Prophecy.

Pschonauts gets my vote aswell, great game.

Also might I suggest Brothers in arms? It's a WWII squad based shooter, I thought it looked damn nice and was pretty fun. The sequel to it is coming in October , it will have co op, multiplayer, etc.

Red Alert 2 was still made by Westwood. EA just published it. Then after the game came out, EA took over Westwood. Red Alert 2 was f'n awesome. Generals sucked big time. It had no replay value and got boring after the first 10 minutes.

Mafia, you can pick it up for less than 10 bucks, not really going to work your card but it looks just as good if not better than any of the GTA's and has an amazing story. Speaking of gta, they are all great. if you haven't played them already definately pick up gta 3, vice city, and san andreas on pc, those are all really really good.

Half life 2 is really really good, Elder scrolls III morrowind, Freelancer, Rise of Nations, Freedom Force vs. 3rd reich. all of these are excellent single player games.

fable comes out next week and black and white 2 comes out in early oct. i believe. Serious sam 2 is in oct. too i think.

:p :D A great choice if you're looking for a great storyline
in a game. Plenty of action to statisfy your gaming needs!

If you don't mind going a little older, Deus EX is a solid bet. :D

Deus Ex 2 will be a little disappointing, though.

EDIT: Fallout 1 & 2 for rpg goodness. Sorry, I know you said 'modern', but nothing has really impressed me alot lately.

Another vote for Mafia, excellent game :D

Its weird nobody recommends Far Cry, one of the hottest games ever.

I really liked Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic (RPG). Kept me up till the weee hours of the morning quite a few times, it took me just over 100 hours to beat it the first time and a little over 90 the seccond time, evnen though i halfway knew my way around. Good Game! :D

Mafia - I remember playing that demo when it first came out. Fun game. Might have
to pick up the full version now. :D

Another reccomendation here for Max Payne and the sequel, if you haven't already played them.

Do you mean KOTOR 2? The first one was really short but i played 20 some hours into the 2nd one and wasn't even near the end, then i formatted my computer and haven't restarted yet. but there's no way it takes in the 100 hour range to beat kotor 1.

EA has had control over Westwood since Tiberium Sun.

They just dissolved the studio after RA2.

Ohhhh. I liked all the games until Generals came out, and thats when I lost interest in the Command & Conquer games. I heard the started production on Red Alert 3. Im hoping they dont really screw up the series with this game.

What is so good about Fable? I have it for XBOX but just CANNOT get into the game. I want to play it but somethin will not keep my interest....and what exactly should I be doin besides running around kicking chickens and breaking into homes?

I never broke into a home, lol. Never kicked a chicken either.

Your character grows & ages as the game progresses, day turns into night, spot on controls, more levels then Xbox version, much better resolution & textures then Xbox version, more types of enemies, better artificial intelligence, PRECISE CONTROL with pc version (mouse/kb) rather then clunky Xbox controller.

You haven't graduated the Guild Academy apparently? Teleporting is cool, u can buy a house & collect rent, get laid, do almost anything..

BTW, the xbox version kinda sucked. I had it & never played it as the controls & depth were lacking badly.

Well guess I should of asked what is wrong the the box version. It is the same game except added levels for PC correct? I realize gfx are better on PC.

Well, it took ME 100 hours to beat it, although it was the first EVER game i played like that, AND i dont have a very good vid card so i probably spent 2-3 hours (though out the entire game) to get past so laggy parts, especially on Tarris. I havent yet bought KOTOR 2 yet, still a tabb bit expencive for me at ~$35-$40. :(

Kotor 1 took about 50 hours and Kotor 2 took about 40 hours. I just couldn't get into Kotor 2 enough to read every bit of the dialog.

Mafia is one of my favorite sp games....such a great story.

Hear hear! Psychonauts isn't just a fun game, there's a ton of tongue in cheek humor, and just plain bizzar bits that keep the game interesting. I highly recommend it. In fact i'd go so far as to say it's a "must play".

I agree all the games in the NOLF series are fun as hell.

cod + cod united offensive were great.

my favorite right now is silent hunter 3. this replaces the bad manual with the game:
Silent Hunter III Community Manual

alot to learn about this game, but with low realism settings you can easily command your crew to manage all functions of das boot. higher realism settings will **** you up. beautiful scenery, graphics, great mods, and good ai as anti-submarine warefare improves throughout the war. nowhere near the slow pace people claim. very intense and will suck hours of your day.

sehrohrtiesfe. kleine fahrt voraus. rohr dwei, los!
