Can anyone recommend me a point of sale system for a small retail business?

I'm going to be opening a small retail store in a few months and have pretty much everything lined up but I'm having a heck of a time finding an affordable POS software that can track inventory, customers, work orders, suppliers etc I wanted to keep the cost at $1,000 or less if possible. When I try to do some research it seems like most search results are BS websites publishing fake reviews that are just pushing certain products. So far I've found that quickbooks POS looks great but is a little pricey at $2,000 but that includes a barcode scanner and receipt printer. Do any of you have any experience with affordable POS systems?

There are a whole bunch of used/refurb FULL POS systems on ebay under $1k.
