Can a 500W psu handle a 260 gtx?

Any halfway decent 500W should handle the GTX 260 with no problems.

If you open the case, you may be able to see the label on the PSU. If you can, let us know what you see, because I see nothing online other than "500W PSU" which could mean anything.

What are the amperage ratings on its 12v rails? dual 18 amp?

im not sure im currently not using it as its in another house.

500 Watt Velocity Micro® Power Supply with Dual Blue Lighted Fans

and im trying to find more about it on VM website but it does not say.

A 9800GTX to a 260GTX shouldn't be much of an increase in power consumption (possibly a couple more amps on the 12V rail at most). If the system can run the 9800GTX just fine, you should be ok.

At worst, it can be a temporary solution until you pick up a PSU upgrade. Make sure to post your 12V ratings on the side of the PSU here.

Ask someone there to look at the label then. Better safe than sorry .

so I guess it should be fine then?

It all depends on the 12V rail(s). There are cheap 500W PSUs that are worse than some good 350W PSUs etc.
