I finally got my new system built last weekend, (See Sig For Details), but I'm having one problem I can't seem to figure out...

Is anyone having trouble with 5.1 surround in games?

Some games it works, and some it doesn't for me. It's a bit picky in windows as well, I have to have the speakers in music, or movie mode to get my rear speakers to put out any sound at all.

FarCry 64 seems to not want to work right at all, I get background sounds like the waves, and music, but the 3d positioning is not there at all...

I'm just curious if anyone else has been having problems, and what you might have done to fix it?

I am using ASUS latest Audio drivers v6280 from their driver site.

Prolly bugged Vista Drivers mate... any chance of backing it up and installing XP for a try to see if it works then ?
 
I was actually thinking about that at the time of my posting...

I'm going to setup dual boot tomorrow, chances are you're right, I just really hope it can work 100% on vista soon, as that is the only draw back I could find. I don't know why a lot of people won't take the plunge, but I for one really like Vista.

Anyway, thanks for the reply and we'll see what happens tomorrow!
