I was at compusa yesterday looking for a 25foot patch cable and was really shocked to see that it was $40 ( http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=172027&pfp=BROWSE ) for a stupid cable. I just looked on newegg and they have generic ones for under 5 bucks ( http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductdesc.asp?description=12-117-415&depa=0 ). Where do you get quality network cables for better prices? I would get a newegg generic one but i am concerned about the quality. It is just for my home network to connect my computer to my router.

was that a Monster Cable (TM) patch cable at compusa? :p

i'm one of those people who believes that 99 out of 100 times, wire is wire, as long as it doesn't look cheap.

those belkin cables are a rip off, especially at CompUSA. I saw that same cable on clearance at RadioShack for maybe 10 dollars at the most. My rule is not to shop at CompUSA, I make all my own cables anyway.

$40 for an ethernet cable? That's a complete ripoff unless the wires were made out of solid silver. Even then, it wouldn't be worth it.

For some people, buying in bulk and making patch cables makes more economical sense. For others, there are cheap cables like this.
