wondering if the gtx285 works fine with the e6850 cpu or if the cpu would be the limiting factor?

deciding if this is even worth the upgrade from a 8800gts 512 card right now.

if you OC, you will be fine...

but its really depending on what game you play, and what setting you put up...

the bottleneck will only occur when you GPU is not running 100% but your CPU is.....

in Source Engine game you will most likely to run into CPU Bottleneck, but that wont be the case since you will be having 100-200fps...

so dont really worry about it...

i saw a pretty good improvement going from 8800gt to gtx260 so i'd assume your upgrade would be even better.

I'm running a E8500 with a HD4870 X2, and I don't have any bottlenecking issues at all.

With GTA 4, running 1920x1200, all details on high, and sliders about "50", I average about 35fps. And a lot of times it runs closer to 50-60. So I am happy with it's performance.

ah cool thanks guys

yes i'm still running @ 3.6ghz
debated on upgrading to a quad but i don't think it's worth the $.
i couldn't really get the cpu stable above 3.6 or i would have o/c'd it more :D

I am skeptical that you would notice any difference between a dual-core at 3.6Ghz and a quad-core at the resolutions and settings I would expect you to be running.

Will you notice a difference between an 8800GTS 512MB and a GTX285? Heck yes. A single GTX285 is nearly as fast as 8800GTS 512MB in SLI, and your dual-core at 3.6Ghz will show most or all of that improvement.
