First questions is Which one of the four is the BEST (quality/warranty/support/durability/speed) im guessing the most expensive asus.

and second question is which i the best bang for the buck or value.

I also looked into dells and would go with an xps if it had the newer intel cpus and better graphics. but i can get a kited out XPS for under $1000 after rebates.

-- i went to best buy and the HP feels cheap, too much plastic and i dont like the touchpad, my finger seems to stick to it makes it hard to slide around.

So its between the Sager from say xotic pc, Asus g50v-x1 from new egg, and the Gateway 7811fx from bestbuy

I'm ignoring the G50V-A1 since its out of your budget:
1)
Best in quality: Either the Sager NP2096 or G50V-X1 from NEWEGG
Best in warranty: The Asus G50V-X1 from NEWEGG for its two year global warranty
Best in support: No idea
Best in durability: The Asus or Sager
Best in speed (CPU): The Sager
Best in speed (GPU): The Gateway
Best in speed (Overall): The Asus G50V-X1

2) The Asus Asus G50V-X1 IMO. It's already built so you don't have to wait for it to be built and shipped to you like with the Sager laptop. the 9700M GT that it has is a bit faster than the 9600M GT that the Sager has. At 15.4", it is a significantly more portable than the Gateway laptop.

However, if you don't mind the extra weight and somewhat reduced mobility of a 17" laptop and want the fastest GPU possible, then definitely get the Gateway laptop.

Good reply thanks! and i just noticed the asus comes with a backpack and a gaming mouse so thats a $50+ value and i didnt figure windows vista into the sager price so that adds another $140 to the price of the sager.

I am currently considering the asus g50v a2 because of the dual hard drives. I find it odd that red barn computers lists the ram as DDR800 when other sources list it as DDR667. Also on the A2, it lists the hard drives as 2x200gb 5400rpm while the egg lists them at 7200rpm.... my ONLY qualm with the g50v is the 667ram vs 800mhz so I am pretty curious. I called Asus earlier today to ask them but the guy I spoke with after 20 minutes of hold time was neither helpful, knowledge or had a good understanding of english.

all my research points to 800mhz ram in all 3 models x1/a1/a2 and single 200mb 7200rpm hd in the x1(newegg model only, BestBuy x1 has single 250gb 5400rpm), dual 250mb 5400rpm drives in the a1, and dual 7200rpm 200mb drives in the a2. and one other thing the A2 comes with a Blu-ray Disc player

i dont know 2 much about this website but it has the a2 for $1,772.00 after $70 instant rebate http://www.lagoom.com

Cool! I wonder why the egg has it listed as 667... oh well, I thought it had said 667 on the asus site but I went back and it says 800.

I am going to pick up the G50V-X1,

I just got done playing on the G50V-A2 at Nvidia's Lan party Nvision. These were the tournament systems. For $500 isnt worth the extra Drive option. Just thinking of battery life as well. 2x7200rpms = maybe an hour?

Played COD4 and TF2 fine at 1680x1050. Had to turn down some settings to get 120fps but it looks great still. Systems do have some sound/mic issues. 2 of the machines I played on were very low volume for .35mm headsets and a 3rd machine had a bad Mic input (loud buzz sound) but I am sure Asus would fix that if this came that way.

Anyone know where to get the G50V-X1 cheater then newegg?

I've been looking at getting one myself. Newegg is by far the best price but Best Buy has them cheaper except only with a slower 2Ghz processor and apparently a lower screen resolution.
