Hi there, I built my current baby about 3 years ago and named it "Powerbeast". It served me well but the old dog is dying and can't play the games I want it to anymore. This christmas I'm building a new computer and here are the specs and their prices in Canadian $. Don't be surprised if the components are a hell lot more expensive than you lucky yankees down south :) Please provide your advice in terms of this machine's price/performance and compatibility. Please keep in mind that I'm a budget gamer.

Please let me know what you think and whether you think it will handle the latest games (also what kind of 3dmark I can expect on all stock settings).

Thanks!

Nice to see another Canadian on this forum.

If you can spring an extra few bucks, get a 6400 or a better CPU cooler.

How much are you looking to spend? What kind of settings do you want to play your games at? How long do you want this to last you?

I personally would say to get an 8800GTS and 2GB of DDR800 (To Overclock that Conroe). But, it all depends on you budget and settings you wanna play at.

Pass on the Coolermaster EXTREME 600. it's only 500w underneath.

Try a Corsair HX 520. it's about $120.

I agree with the Corsair 520W and 2GB DDR2-800. Also, if you plan on OC'ing, go for the P5B-E, or a Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3.

well, you're more lucky than i am, it's all 20% cheaper in Canada (even if your dollars are five times stronger than Croatian Kuna!) I'd say you invest in e6400 and GF 6900gt OR a cooler so you can overclock that card (or/and processor) ;)
