So I'm building a new file server, and I'll be needing some storage space.

Just want to know, what's the best size for GB/$, and which brands/models are best at that size?

From quick skimming, it looks like 1.5TB is the sweet spot right now, but I don't know how some of these brands are doing now (I know seagate had some trouble, and samsung and wd are the best right now?)

from my experience, i would go with smg
they run chilly and well
seagate lps are fine too, had good experince with wd too ... but last batch runs too hot and one of em died, so i wouldnt sudgest that brand for anyone for at least 6months

At current prices either the SAMSUNG EcoGreen F2 1.5tb or the Seagate 2tb LP drives are the cheapest I've seen at $0.06/gb and $0.07/gb respectively; each from newegg and have threads in the hotdeals section.

Any of the current crop of drives would be a good choice though,
