I'd like the savings, but wouldn't do it unless you guys would. Factory refub-MB a safe bet or no?

TIA,

Q

I've never had a problem with refurb'd items.
I hear from people on this board that newegg will swap the board out with no complaints if it turns out to be DOA.

I'd say :D

Buying a Referb Motherboard is like buying a Used Condom. Sure it will work, but you never know what bugs it might have.

spend the extra $40 and get a retail board.

from my experiences, refurbs have trouble overclocking.

two things wrong with that statement.

1) it has been demonstrated that many newegg refurbs are actually open box or returns. Newegg uses the term "refurb" loosely.

2) "safe bet" is not to be used in the same sentence as "refurb", especially with more sensitive hardware like mobos, video cards and hard drives.

I only recommend refurbs to those who understand and accept the risks associated with them. If you're not comfortable with those risks then allow others to do so ;)
