Looking to put together a budget build and would like to reuse some of my old parts if necessary. I have an 8800GTS in my old rig, how outdated is this card and is this adequate for most of the newer titles? I don't play many of the newer games, but I'd like to have the capability. Most of what I do is browsing, light gaming, etc (mostly titles such as CS:S, QLive, etc).

Just looking for some input/suggestions on both the relevance of my current card and build input on my new rig.

Thanks!

Yes, very outdated. For a total 5-600 budget, you could put some of it towards a new card that would make a decent improvement without major investment.

I played Skyrim, Battlefield 3, and Assassins Creed with a GTS250/8800GTS and it was enjoyable with Low-Medium settings at 1920x1080 without AA. You could use the card for 9 months if budget is tight, but you will have to test each graphic option to optimise your fps. There are some good deals on current cards though, and you might end up paying the same price on the next generation of cards for the same performance that you could have now, if you can find a good deal.

I would use the 8800gts and put the money into the rest of the rig, You can always upgrade it later. Those parts Danny picked out for you look nice. I would get a better cpu with the video card money.
