linux box...a little know how and then http://www.gnump3d.org/

    and you are all set.

The web pages/playlist interface it creates is pretty sweet. used to stream all my tunes to work using a similar setup and WinAmp

    http://www.kplaylist.net/

I've used kPlaylist for years. I actually wrote the first file upload function for it that has now been integrated. It will do on the fly re-encoding to save bandwidth over a wan. Check it out.

I've been using Firefly Media Server to stream to all iTunes. It's been working great.

    vibestreamer seems like the easiest...

but doesn't work if i want to access it from the outside...

i put this computer in DMZ and no firewall..so it's not the port..

    any idea?

yes! music server is up and running..

now...i gotta set up my own VPN at home so I can upload music files to my server remotely. i'd like to be able to change/delete/open/execute files on my server remotely.

is there a program that lets me do this easily?

edit: i think a light weight remote desktop software will be the best for this job..any recommendations?

    thankyou for this thread...

i think i jsut found a use for my 200mhz P1 thati have sitting in a cupboard...

it just meets the minimum requirements for vibe streamer, so i am happy...

oh, Ultra VNC is ok for a remote access thingie, its a bit complicated to use though... You might be better off just trying to use windows remote desktop...

If you want to be really secure just use SSH and tunnel your Remote Desktop Traffic through the tunnel.
