Build Your Own Miniature R2 D2

Jun 22, 2008
Introducing littleBits' Droid Inventor Kit which gives you all the pieces to build your very own small size R2-D2. At a cost of $100, the modular kit comes with the motors, speakers, and sensors to help you replicate the bleeps, the sweeps, and the creeps. Also available is a companion app for iOS/Android with build instructions. Get one for the kid or yourself.

Unfamiliar with littleBits? It was founded back in 2011, and focuses on introducing kids to electronics and circuitry by way of modular components that snap together. Want to build a little Taboo-style buzzing button? Grab a battery module, a button module and a speaker module, stick their magnetic ends together and you’re set -- no soldering (and thus no soldering iron burns) required.
One day I'm going to get serious and build a robot to go back and forth to the fridge to fetch me a beer. Then immediately after I will become not serious again.... because beer.
I'm trying to buy one for kid for xmas; it shows as in stock on their site, but there's no way to add it to your cart to buy. Take my money~~

*edit* got it to work loading it in an incognito browser... dunno. Kiddo will be happy.
