BSOD Vista SP1 when i plug in USB hard drive

title says it all... and i cant format it and try it again because i need all my backup stuff on it lol. i uninstalled SP1 for now but would be nice to figure this out.
 
Check to see if you have any virtual drive type programs installed. I had a BSOD issue with my optical drive conflicting with this Nero app called InCD (which sucks balls). It could be something similar to that.
 
Do other USB devices work? Can you try the USB drive in another computer? Do you have your chipst drivers loaded for your motherboard's chipset?
 
Actually the title says nothing more than, "doctor my arm hurts".

What ErrorCode was it?
