I was at Best Buy, and decided to pick up a 2232BW (226CW with a snazzy body and crappy stand). I put it up next to my FW900, set them up in clone mode, loaded up FEAR Extraction Point and within 10 seconds realized I was taking the LCD back. I was in the subway, there was a large wall map in the game showing street names and the subway lines. I strafed side to side facing it and the result was I could still actually read everything on the map just fine on the CRT, whereas on the LCD it was blurred to the point where it was extremely difficult to make out the street names. It was the same for any wall detail when i was running. I didn't bother finding one of my old need for speeds to load up, but I assume it would have bothered the hell out of me in those too.

However, I would like to point out for anyone that is looking for a 22" LCD that this monitor was awesome in every other respect. I found the black detail to be quite good, there was very little backlight bleed (I didn't notice it at all playing FEAR or Doom 3, only with a totally black screen) and I did not notice any input lag (something I'm somewhat sensitive to).

My only complaint is no vertical adjustment on the stand. But hey, that's why it's $30 cheaper than the 226CW

I don't think you're going to find an LCD that doesnt lose detail during motion when strafing side to side, I noticed the same thing when comparing my 20WMGX2 next to my FW900.

Yep, that is why I hadn't bought an LCD up until yesterday. I can even notice it when I'm just moving forward down a hall.

The blurring during motion on my dad's LCD drove me crazy when I'd play games on it, but I figured that monitor is over a year old, I should at lease give a new model a chance. If I only played games like WoW or dota or Eve I wouldn't at all have a problem with an LCD (rr, if I wasn't a picky little bitch when it comes to stuff like this. :D).

Give me SED. Give it to me now, and give it to me good.

there is NO comparison of an LCD to a CRT, NONE.:D

especially an LCD trying to match up with the FW900, just an impossibility.

i'm keeping my CRT till either it dies or I do, whichever comes first.

I tried all the high end lcd's and the is no equal to a good CRT, not to mention the best CRT ever made:D

i bet visually it was a slaughter:D

It's too bad you can't buy new good CRTs anymore, so you're basically screwed when it's time for a new monitor.

if you read the signs on hallways while running past them in games. well. I pity you. Try playing the game instead of concentrating on the ungame stuff.

playing a game is experiencing a game. the visuals, the sound, the atmosphere, the story. If you never read anything or take in the environments then it is I that pity you.

We'll be rooting for you to win that race against your CRT...
