If you have this notebook or the e1505, how do you like it so far? I just purchased the Inspiron 6400 and here are the specs:

Intel Core Duo T2050 (2MB / 1.60 Ghz / 533 Mhz)
15.4" Wide Screen XGA with True Life (1200x800)
1 GB DDR2 533 Mhz
80GB HDD 5400rpm
128MB ATI Radeon Mobility X1300 Hypermemory
6-cell Battery
Windows Vista Basic

Sub Total: $858

Applied 25% coupon + $100 concession coupon

Total w/tax and shipping: $547.03

-------------------------------------------------------------

Any thoughts on my purchase or about the notebook, in general? :)

sucks, return it.

:) jk, that's what u get for asking people what they think about it AFTER you bought it.

I completely understand. But that 25% coupon was only valid for 3 hours AFTER I got my hands on it. So it was a rushed decision. And in the past, I've been known to return orders back to Dell if I'm not happy with what I ordered with zero hassles.

So... now the ground work has been laid. :)

wow nice
i just paid about double that for:

I6400,CORE 2 DUO T5600(1.83GHZ)
120GB HARD DRIVE,I6400/E1505
15.4 INCH TRUELIFE,WXGA+,I6400/E1505
1GB,DDR2,533MHZ,2 DIMM,I6400/E1505
9-CELL,LION,PRIM BATT,I6400/E1505
8X DVD+/-RW DRIVE,I6400/E1505
DELL WRLS 1500,DC,MCRD,CAN,INSP
ATIX1400X256MB
MS WORKS 8.5 PLUS OFFICE,TRIAL,ENG,INSP
WINDOWS XP HM,SP2,ENG,INSP

my total was 1111.27 tax & shipping in. (Canadian) oh and its a referb
(or open box if you will)

not a great deal but i think its decent

But your processor blows mine out of the water. Plus you have a DVD burner, an extra 40GB of space, a 9 cell battery, and the 256MB version of the ati radeon.

Actually, that's a little over $300 in upgrades. With the 25% coupon I had, the same upgrades on my notebook would have costed me around $225, so my total would have been somewhere around $800 after tax and free shipping (and not a refurb).

I have almost the same thing, but with the DVD burner and a Core2Duo as in my sig. Also came with the 9 cell and Media Center w/ the free upgrade to Vista. Paid $739 + shipping through the outlet.

Yup, I just got the 6400 as well, arrived yesterday, and I'm loving it so far, it's pretty fast.
I got it from the outlet, scratch and dent for $639... and it's spotless
It's got a Core Duo 1.6, 1gb RAM ddr2, 100GB, radeon x1300 128mb, dvdrw

Dell gave me FREE next business day delivery. I just logged onto my dell account and saw

that my notebook shipped out today (Friday), but won't actually be delivered until

Monday. It seems like I always get the shorter end of the stick when it comes to

shipping. I'm already a little bit pissed. Can't even begin to imagine how I'd feel if

I actually paid the extra $60 for next day shipping. Christ... I'm gonna lose sleep

knowing my precious notebook is sitting there in the cold warehouse or cold truck on

Saturday AND Sunday. I'm anal about cold weather and electronics. Condensation

is a real bitch.

I have the same exact system except for a WUXGA+ screen and a 9-cell battery (paid $1100 or so almost a year ago). It's now running Vista Business. Definitely a great laptop, especially for the price you paid. Enjoy it :D

You should have gotten a lenovo...

I can't speak about Lenevo's own branded machines, but all that "security" junk Thinkpads come with (and no Windows CD to wipe it clean) is a bloody nightmare. Campus store primarily sells Thinkpads, and I honestly find working with the things a major hassle for that reason. That, and I always forget to disable that stupid embedded "security" chip when I boot into safe mode and can never figure out why I can't log in. Feh. I'd take all the pre-installed junkware over that security software any day of the week.
