Boot off of a USB 3.0 Flash Drive plugged into a USB 2.0 port?

Hey [H],

Is it possible to boot off of a USB 3.0 flash drive if it's plugged into a USB 2.0 port? Theoretically it *should* work but I'd like to get a confirmation from someone who has done this successfully.

I was able to boot off of a USB 3.0 portable hard drive, not sure if it'd be the same situation, (It was a USB 2.0 port as well).
 
Yes. The USB 3.0 spec for compliancy states the device must be backwards compatible with earlier USB revisions.
 
Thanks guys! Just a heads up, there seem to be anecdotal cases where specific USB 3.0 flash drives cannot boot even from USB 2.0 such as some highest speed Patriot models. But that was based off of Newegg reviews for what it's worth.
 
Yep, I've read quite a lot of user complaints with the Patriot devices.
