So my dvd just died.

So, I was going to get a blu Ray to watch movies also. There's no free bluray player software I have seen that can do movies.

So, is it better to get the retail package with the player?

Or, get the OEM and get a good software player as another purchase??

I certainly don't mind paying a little more for a better set up.

Burning blu rays isn't a consideration with SD/USD drives so cheap

I bought an OEM one and it came with a player software.

Edit: I purchased a LG drive.

Thanks,
Was it a decent player? I do want one that has the full surround sound. I don't have a/v rec hooked up to my pc because I like big volume knobs

Rip the bluray using MakeMKV and play it with free software (VLC, MPC-HC, etc.)

Its done its job the six times I've used it to play a blu-ray. And the handful of times I've used it to burn a CD.

After typing my reply I'm starting to wonder why I even have a cd/dvd/blu ray drive at all.
