Bloomberg Stands by Chinese Chip Story as Apple, Amazon Ratchet Up Denials

AFAIK the claim is that the tiny evil haxor chips were added at some point *after* the boards left the factory, so no board design elements were ever there to facilitate them.

Basically it's really frigging unlikely this is a thing :p

Sure it's unlikely when you live in a fairytale world where you complacently trust a government to be acting in your interests. Or you are paid to comment such naive nonsense?

Nothing to see here, right, eh Langley?

Apple did yank Supermicro out of their server rooms, claiming at the time 'Bad firmware.' https://arstechnica.com/information...m-datacenters-because-of-bad-firmware-update/
Could have been bad firmware, could have been a cover to hide finding these chips creating a direct line to PRC.

Amazon did sell the China branch of AWS : https://techcrunch.com/2017/11/13/aws-exits-china/
At the time the claim was too many new regulations. The recent report indicates it was over security issues.

Still, would be nice to see one of these chipped boards. If as Bloomberg claims, Apple was cooperating with various US 3 letter agencies, the server boards are likely somewhere in country.
