Might buy Valla then, I was liking Raynor since I rarely died with him but after playing a couple of games with Thrall I'm switching fav hero, the self sustained build is a blast, by level 7 I can solo any merc camp that is not a boss, it's fun to pick fights and then finish them off with chain lightning and the wolf when they try to run as well

I am not much of a MOBA fan (and I don't know that this is entirely a typical MOBA), but I had a pretty good time with I have played of this. I will be keeping my eye on HotS.

Valla is one of the top DPSers in the game.

Tyrael is a beast- his Smite build can wreck teamfights once you get displacement. He's one of my favorite heroes.

Nazebo is a specialist whose DPS is also insanely high. All around he's my top favorite.

Jaina has great burst. She's very fragile so you have to be careful, but if you hit anyone with a 3 button combo their day is going to be absolutely ruined.

Rhegar is a super fun DPS support character. I run him as full DPS, which lets me run down fleeing heroes and murder them horribly.

Stitches' hammer/slam build is quite effective and his hook can wreck the enemy's strategy. However if youhave a dumb team that can't capitalize on your displacement you're pretty much useless as you have -1 dps.

Tychus' grenade build makes him very scary. He's a good assassin, but he can't really chase. Save your nades for anyone trying to flee.

Kerrigan is a fantastic assassin. She can engage like crazy and can be used to roam and gank if you don't have a cloaked character to fill this role.

Zeratul is an excellent roaming ganker, but he takes practice to play well.

Nothing about Raynor? He needs a bit of work sure, but I still think he is one of the most entertaining characters to play.

I covered Raynor in-depth a while ago, but I'll summarize here.

Raynor has a huge identity crisis. He was originally a specialist but what changed to an Assassin in alpha with no reason given. He does not have the burst damage to be a true assassin and also lack any sort of engage/disengage power.

Concussive blast is the single most misused power in the entire game. Every single new player uses this power to push enemies back to safety far too often. Proper positioning is required to push enemies into danger instead of away from danger and into safety.

Inspiration is good for pushing a lane, as is his built-in structure damage, but there are other characters far better at pushing lanes than him.

Stim pack does give Raynor some crazy survivability, as long as it is not on cool-down, but this should be his passive instead of keeping him from having a 3rd active skill. The fact that he is relegated to only 2 active skills (not counting Ult) is a crime against new players. Also taking the talent that makes stim pack key-active is a horrible talent given other, better choices at that level.

His ultimates are... lackluster. Hyperion doesn't really do much damage overall. It can force enemies to move, but it's not that good. Raiders is more of annoyance to enemies than it is an actual threat.

I hate that he is the entry point for this game as I think he is nowhere near as good as he needs to be. He is not a terrible character, I still use him sometimes, but I do not think he is a good character.

Yeah that part really bugged me. The "ultimates" don't feel like ultimates at all. Most of the talent points you get just vaguely buff your auto attack or add some flare to it. I dunno. I'm just pretty negative overall on this game so far.

Guess I should've waited instead of pouncing on the founder's pack.

What exactly are you looking for? It is NOT DOTA or LOL, it doesn't have the tedious farming, last hitting, etc.

This game is about ganking, team fighting, and map control. Condensed to fast paced 15 minute games.

I love it because its like I can play the end game of dota/lol with out the 45-60 minutes of crap. Sometimes dota can just be exhausting and there are the times were you get "stuck" in a game that is generally lost.

Also why I love Smite. I can't wait to get my hands on this game. Is it going to be F2P with a cash shop type thing?

Yeah. It's going to be F2P, the game currency is gold, champs/skins/mounts also have a $ value directly. So like LoL except you don't have to transfer dollars in RP or whatever in game currency, 10$ is most expensive champ I think right now? Thrall.

Hows the grind for gold? Better or worse than LoL? If its as bad as hearthstone that'll be silly. Do they have free champ rotations?

So far grind for gold seems tough, but I am just starting. They do rotate a free hero pool as I was upset when I logged in last night and Falsted (or whatever) had rotated out.

There is a battle bundle or whatever for $39.99 I may look at.

I have noticed that you for some reason won't spend money on a F2P game, not sure why that is. F2P doesn't mean it isn't worthy of money.

I think Blizzard has been knocking it out of the park with Hearthstone and HOTS. They sorta fixed D3, SCII is always good, and I see mostly positive things about WoD (trying to resist the urge).

You can get 2k gold per heroe that you level to 5, the grind for gold is pretty bad but some of the 2k heroes are somwhat decent, i'm guilty of spending money on heroes, i couldn't resist thrall

You get 500 gold per character you get to 5. The 2k gold thing is a new player/player level unlock unrelated to hero level.

See, I am not sure why you would "feel guilty" about spending money on this game (or any game that you enjoy). If you enjoy it then go for it, I am close to ponying up because it is just that much fun.

So you spent $10 on Thrall, how many games have you played him? It is cheap entertainment.

It's just that, at least in my experience with hearthstone, Blizzard's prices are way too high for stuff. If you wanted to unlock everything it'd be way more than the cost of a regular game. I'm just against the whole model which typically creates worse-than-usual grinds in order to push sales of over-priced boosters or unlocks.

I'd rather just buy a game and be done with it, not feel like the company is trying to nickel and dime me.

A ton actually, he's my most played hero, I really like playing Li Li as well but playing support on solo queue is not as fun

Played a couple of games with Samson last night. We got rolled on both due to feeding teammates but I enjoyed it.

Hopefully I can populate my friends list with more [H] members.

Tried a couple more heroes, Nazeebo is quite fun, i think i will unlock him next time he's on sale, Arthas felt nice and tanky, he's also on my to buy list but i think i will use in game gold on him, Uther was a decent support but i felt helpless if i was alone on the lane, support is really only fun when the rest of the team is up to par

Every game on battle.net has a demo except HOTS. The trailer has no actual gameplay in it. So i think i will pass.

I've been in the Technical Alpha; feel free to ask anything. I'm not an ultra hardcore player of MOBAs, but I'll give you my impressions if you like. Overall, I like it better than any other MOBAs of its type (ie DOTA2, LOL) for a number of reasons. For instance, leveling is team based instead of individual, and you don't have to buy any items. Variation comes from how you choose to build your character as you level up instead. This makes the game a lot more accessible and the teamwork element much better; the threshold for a crappy player "bringing down" your team is much higher than most MOBAs. It even has a better community, thanks in part to aforementioned technical changes.

Go to their media link - http://us.battle.net/heroes/en/media/

Blizz nearly always has a "cinematic" trailer as well as a "gameplay" one, separately. Check it out there if you like. Of course, you can always watch Twitch.TV or YouTube videos of matches if you wish to see the general flow of an entire game.

Well that's awesome, my biggest gripe with MOBA's is last hitting creeps. COOL you put tedious busy work in a game.... that and ever game seems like it is 30 minutes longer than it needs to be. last hit creeps for 30 mins while doing minor skirmishes with other hoeroes in the lane.

I liked DemiGod a lot but stardock dropped the ball on that game

I only recently got a key and got past the tutorial... then put it away for a few weeks. I start the game up yesterday, pick up the patch (and Lost Vikings I assume) and about three to five minutes into a training match (i.e. I forgot how to play) it crashes very hard (i.e. takes down Windows). Can't seem to find anyone else with this kind of issue, nor does it appear to be creating any dumps or logs. The only thing is that I was able to start the game up and lower all the settings to low and finish a match.

Odd though, and makes me wonder if anyone else has seen/experienced anything like that.

(And to round out my weird anecdotal story, I'm on a PC well equipped to handle Ultra settings.)

Full disclosure I do enjoy Dota, but what you said is what makes HOTS amazing.

The busy work that goes into Dota/LoL can get trying, and it especially sucks if you get stuck in a game for 45+ minutes that you know is lost in the first 20.

This game drops you right into the action, it is all about team fighting and map control.

Edit: I also do not mind solo queing into this game at all.

I had the same issue pretty much after the patch, are you getting bsod at all or just game crashing? I was using Panda anti-virus and that was the cause of the issue on my end ultimately. Maybe its also yours causing the issue.

Nope, not anti-virus. It was a few flickers of the screen to black, and then DWM took up a full core. I was able to get to the Task Manager eventually to kill the "Heroes of the Storm.exe" but DWM wouldn't give up the core. The next time it crashed, it garbled up the screen and wouldn't let me Alt+Tab out. Both times I had to power off hard.

Either way, I did manage to play on the lowest settings so... there's that. I'll gradually increase the settings to figure out what/why it crashes. No one else on Blizzard's forums is having anything like it so... oh well, heh. Betas and all :)

I just played through the tutorial and it's pretty fun and easy to pick up. I didn't care much for dota 2 the few times I've tried it out.

I did see that there are a few deals going on for the bundles, not sure what is good or not but wanted to give a heads up if it's not already known.

Just got into the beta, and I'm having a lot of fun so far. My only previous MOBA experience was HoN, and the toxic community drove me away before it even hit retail. I love the streamlined approach here; it's quick and easy to get a game rolling. I added the 3 tags I've seen so far in this thread, and mine is below.

I have over 1300 hours into Dota 2, and now I have about 200+ in Heroes of the storm. I'm up to 16 heroes (owning) and am having a blast. I love leveling up each hero to level 5 and earning that 500Gold. It's really fun not having to worry about last hitting, items. I also love the fact that my team levels up with me. The game has tons of team fighting, because each map has an objective that brings both teams together. Usually playing the objective will win you the game. That's the problem with solo queuing in this game, people just want to sit in the lane and farm creeps (Which doesn't work, unless they are soaking EXP). The main point I'm trying to get to is if you are planning on playing this game. PLAY THE OBJECTIVES! :D ;)

Edit: I hope the next hero is Sylvanas!
