Blizzard is who I'm talking about. I'm not happy about them bending to china, but it's the ultimate late-game inevitability of capitalism: if you say 'they shouldn't be allowed to bend to china' you're literally saying they should be regulated, and regulation is directly against capitalism as it requires a strong government which is an inherently socialist idea.
What you are talking about isn't Capitalism, it's Corporatism.
While I agree with your sentiments with Blizzard, your definition of Capitalism is way off, and you saying more Socialism is needed is soooo ironic - Socialism is a half-step away from Communism/Marxism/Stalinism.

Your thinking is extremely left, aka, Socialistic bending on Communistic, which is exactly what caused all of this bullshit.
Need to take a look in the mirror there...

I'm willing to be wrong, but what's the factual, legal differences between corporatism and capitalism?

And I'm implying that if you believe that the government needs to stand in the way of a person earning money, then what you believe is factually socialist. I'm not saying that calling it socialist is a good thing, but calling it socialist is a true thing.

Capitalism: An economic and political system in which a country's trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state.
Corporatism: The control of a state or organization by large interest groups.

You rag on Capitalism, then tout we should have Socialism.
Socialism is more government controlling the corporations, aka, what China is doing with Blizzard.

See the irony in that?
You know who else supported Corporatism? The Nazi party - Socialist Nationalists.

So you are saying we need less Capitalism, which is more of a right-ideology, and you are saying we need more Socialism, which is a left-ideology, thus supporting Corporatism.
Again, you see the irony in that???

This is like these idiots calling themselves "Communist Anarchists" - that is such an oxymoron (emphasis on the moron).
Communism is total government control, and Anarchy is complete loss of government - that doesn't even make sense, yet here we are.

So you don't like China, nor Blizzard, and want more freedom, yet demand more Socialist (government) control and less Capitalism, thus supporting Corporatism, which again, is what China is doing with Blizzard... your stance is an oxymoron, and makes no sense.
Time to educate yourself before the Communists re-educate you.

China is controlling Blizzard the same way an employer controls an employee. Blizzard can quit this relationship at any time. Blizzard is under no legal obligation to bow to china. Blizzard is not politically or legally bound to to China at all. Blizzard wants China's money. Thus they are being 101% true blue American capitalist waving the red white and blue: they are being capitalist, they are chasing money. Blizzard is a company of individuals who each earned their way to their position in a capitalist way, and each individual is part of the capitalist company: You regulate the company, and you're regulating the individuals inside the company (which by the way is a socialist action).

I don't know where you're getting the idea that I'm promoting socialism or capitalism, etc. because I'm not. You can't quote me promoting ONE ideology at all. You can quote me saying that if you believe Blizzard should be REGULATED or GOVERNED in a way that limits who they receive payment from, you believe in a socialist ideal. That's on you. I'm not promoting that. I said I don't like Blizzard catering to a communist dictatorship regime, but to limit their choice to do so would be socialist. Simple. I'm not saying we should or should not, and the fact that you've projected that onto my words tells me more about you than I.

I think we need to zero in on the CEO or individual(s) at Blizzard and hang (figuratively of course) them for this huge mess. Everyone wants to just go after the whole company, but the thing is that only one or a few individuals made this decision for Blizzard to lick the heels of China and they're the ones who should suffer the most for it by being fired/replaced by its board members.

I doubt the whole board at Blizzard decided this unanimously and that quickly when that kid defended Hong Kong on that interview and I think it would be a lot more effective to go after the individuals responsible for sucking China's tits than trying to bring down the whole company(s) that are going out of their way to appease China.

The people in HK trying to further their rights as free human beings should be applauded. The fact that they are doing it vs a brutal country like China makes me sick to my stomach. This wont end well. Their only hope is that China will choose to save international face by merely locking them up.

It may be a socialist "ideal", whatever that means, but surely the concept of a government controlling where its internal corporations/guilds/clans operate predates socialism. It's too simple to have originated in the 1880s.

Blizzard was dead to me with last year's BlizzCon. I hope this years turns out to be even worse and the company burns to the ground. Their actions prove they don't care about the real fans and is just bending the knee to their over loads China. They should pull out the states and move their HQ to China already. I honestly don't understand why the Chinese market is even worth much. Sure their over a billion people there but 99.9% are poorer then dirt.

Edit:
Oh yeah. Also Fuck China.

The general consensus is that socialist ideals include allowing the government to regulate individuals, and capitalism is removing that allowance. The USA is full of both ideals in different areas.

I love the Mei stands with Hong Kong thing going on. It's basically a movement causing china to ban that Blizzard game in China. And it's gloriously showing Blizzard that China only gives a fuck about China and not their profit margins.

So these guys can suck a fat one.

As I have said in other discussions. The Blizzard of today isn't the blizzard that I loved when Wow was made when D2 was a thing, and they were celebrated for their IP and their culture.

They've managed to trash their IP and their culture is non existent from a leadership level. Anyone who works for blizzard today is there for the paycheck and or the good old days.

I hope that Ian shill has to answer questions about this as well. What does HE think about this whole mess. I highly suspect that won't happen.

Probably has nothing to do with Turkey being a NATO ally or the fact the US has a major air base there housing tactical nuclear weapons... Nah it's just Trump protecting his hotels . Whatever.

Guess NATO just exists to rip us US taxpayers. Along with the UN.

It's Trump being Trump. all we had to do was keep those troops in place and Turkey would have sat on it's hands. We talked the Kurds into dismantling Air defense weapons and defensive positions in that area with promises that we would stay in the area to keep the Turks out, and Trump shits all over them.

Turkey has been working towards leaving NATO for years, Erdogan evidently sees Turkey becoming another Iran. We have already canceled the co-operative agreement we had with Turkey on the F-35 project, in response to Turkey buying Russian Air defense systems. Turkey has been purging it's more western friendly and secular oriented judges, teachers, and free press for years. Erdogan used the excuse of a failed coup, that some suspect was a false flag operation in the first place to eliminate any effective political foes. His party pushed through constitutional changes that removed checks and balances designed to prevent a dictatorship.

It's looking very grim for the people of Turkey at this point, it is well on the way to becoming another rogue state like Iran. just a matter of time before Turkey leaves NATO or is kicked out if something doesn't change.

Politics will never cease to be the center for so many people...
This is not politics. This is fundamental human rights. Were talking about government issued slavery and oppression to the people of China and now Hong Kong. Screew politics. Free the people of China and Hong Kong. Blizzard acquiesced to the oppressive communist slave masters of China.

Anyone that is professional shouldn't have did something unprofessional. So arguing politics in work seems unprofessional. Do that in your free time. That is how reality works.

There was no name calling. It was a perfect example of a historical precedent for exactly why human rights should trump "no politics in the workplace" common decencies.

My intent was not to insult or name call... It was to point out that an entire city, standing up for the rights it was promised, is on the verge of being erased from the planet. The world is afraid to support what's right because it's bad for business... This is just insane from a humanitarian perspective.

I do apologize if my post offended but I think it's a fair example of why people should not be just turning a blind eye. Don't worry, If you want to go complain about how the new ghostbuster movie is a SJW tragedy, I won't be comparing you to Nazis.

"Under capitalism, man exploits man. Under communism, it's just the opposite."

And just in case that your posts in this thread aren't sarcasm, here's the first wiki paragraph on Socialism

Socialism is a range of economic and social systems characterised by social ownership of the means of production and workers' self-management,[10] as well as the political theories and movements associated with them.[11] Social ownership can be public, collective or cooperative ownership, or citizen ownership of equity.[12] There are many varieties of socialism and there is no single definition encapsulating all of them,[13] with social ownership being the common element shared by its various forms.[5][14][15]

you did call him a nazi. im not going to play a ridiculous to the word literal phrase game with you. stop it.

no, you can run it to a logical extreme all you want. We dont need people screaming about politics in the work place. because everyone thinks they are justified. everyone thinks their cause is the most important. step outside of yourself and realize that no matter how strong your conviction is, there is always another perspective. it is good and right to stay civil and professional, then fight your own crusades once you clock out. anything else would result in madness.

Well I wouldn't have chosen to work I that field. So you're logic is invalid. Sure based on your logic if someone is racist the should express it out loud in their job and make it into a hostile work environment

Any profit driven company will pursue that profit at the exclusion of all else, eventually.

And that is why we have protests like these.

Companies aren't human, and don't care about human values, but when you hit them in the pocketbook with potential PR and sales losses, then suddenly come around.

This is the difference between China and the rest of the world.

I am completely fine with keeping politics out of the workplace pretty much 99.99% of the time. By my logic, someone who stands up to someone being, blatantly and unequivocally, racist at work, should not be fired because the company has a "no politics" policy.

Heres the cold hard truth to the matter, Im sure the guy had sponsors and had to sign on a dotted line. Once he did that, Blizzard owned him. At that point they can do whatever they see fit to do. Same with any other sports athlete. Don't play the game if you don't want to play by the rules.

This player wasn't banned for making political statements. He was banned for harming business >.< The policy they cited was clearly not an anti human rights stance policy.

I doubt the guy really cares that much about his 3 grand... when you live in a country where your freedoms are on a count down clock giving up a minor prize to fight for your own freedom seems hardly that big a deal. No doubt in the coming months a bunch of these kids are going to be giving up a hell of a lot more then a little prize cash. China is going to crack down at some point. I'm sure they are trying to find a way to get there with min exposure. They so want to loose the tanks... but this time they have to make sure no one has a camera on them when they roll over folks.

I'm thinking China is going to have an 'accidental discharge' of a fuel air bomb over one of these demonstrations. "We were just trying to land when it fell out and went off. We send our heartfelt apologies to those families effected.... if they survived."
