I just copied and pasted my post in the sticky, so apologies for the redundancy. ;)
Let me know what you think!!!

Doing touchup painting to it over the next 24 hrs, hoping to land in the BYOC @ Quakecon. Here is the rig:

This first one shows the flame cuts on the window, it was a test fit that I did prior to compled painting of the base, and the spacers for the 5.25 and 3.5 locations

The inside of the case is a anodized green metalflake finish with crushed velvet material:

The top has same style harloquin flame cut, but in the inverse of the window. I mounted a heavily sanded piece of plexi under it, then lit it with the case colors from opposing ends:

The rear of the unit:

Still have a little touch up to do, and I have an idea that I will experiment with tomorrow that might pop the flames in the dark! Thanks for looking! See y'all @ QC!!!

:D

The crushed velvet looks cool but I keep thinking that it has got to be hell
as far as static goes....

Looks really nice. The velvet looks ok its nice but i am also not so sure if i like it but what about the static buildup?

Good question.

Have not had any issues with static as of yet, but think I'll spray down with Static Guard tonight!

ABBA rules!.. oh ahem.. Someone's showing their age :p

Nice work BTY
Yeah Dancing Queen or not, ABBA is great since it reminds me of the 70's and all the sex I would have had if I wasn't just a kid! Dancing Chicks with very little clothing rule.
We are such thread hijackers. It's a nice case mod tho- props to the builder.

It is a boxed set collectors edition, "ABBA : Thank you for the music".
Has all sorts of trivia on them, how they came to be, also has some unreleased studio work for all of you nuts out there that are willing to listen to unfinished works... just to hear pieces that they ended up using in other material!

For the ABBA fan, who does not want to pick up their plethora of albums... this 4 CD collection of 66 songs is an absolute MUST!!!! Still good to listen to. You should see it turn heads when you walk into a BestBuy and drop in your demo CD and start blasting "Knowing me, Knowing you..." or "Eagle", or "Does your mother know?", it is pretty funny how the age of the people that walk up soon afterwards is in a "higher/older" demographic than what was there a few minutes ago!!! ;)

It is getting harder and harder to come up with original ideas! People are really going out of their way for originality in the last year or so! Loving the inspirations out there!

I appreciate the comments folks! Seems the main sticking point seems to be the material. I figured it would be. Never seen it done, and thought it would be a good change and something to really make it stand apart from the other modders work out there!

I'm going to start winding this one down after I get the 2nd layer of plexi mounted and I have the flames properly displaying.
:D
Thanks again for all feedback!

bling green eh.... maybe bling blue.

Yeah.... plan to completion a few things changed. I was worried that the green of the frame was going to overpower the case, I think I over compensated!

I've got some ideas that will put it more in line with it's given name...

Machine has changed up a bit since these pictures... I got a different board (ASUS A7N8X) a better proc (2800+) and a 1GB (2x512) Dual Channel 2-3-2 OCZ Ram upgrade.
SCHWING!!!

Never spent that much on RAM b4.... that's kinda fun! :D
Thanks for the comments!

Weird colors, weird velvet but I like it! Kinda looks like somethings growing in your case. :p

As another child of the 70s... yeah, ABBA rules!

Great job, and congrats!

(scene opens with a body falling from the sky...)

wwaaaaaa-AAAAAAA-*THUMP*...
hehehe, sorry, kinda fell off the world there... but I'm back now!
I just realized that I *never* posted the finished pics of the rig to this thread!
My sincere apologies!

And without further adeu...

Innards are the following:
A8N-SLI-Deluxe
Athlon FX-53
1GB (2x512) OCZ EL PC3200, 2-3-2
Leadtek 6600GT
Gigabyte 3D Rocket Pro Cooler with Artic Silver
ULTRA 500w X-Connect modular power supply
Pioneer Slot load DS-106 DVD player
HP CD Burner (older than dirt...)

The trick bits:
1) Flames... and lots of them! I've always liked classic harloquin flames like on custome cycles and hot rods... this was my tribute to them! I cut the inverse flame on the top window, backed it with a sanded piece of lexan, then lit each end with a 3 LED array, blue at the base of hte flam, and green at the top of the flame. The fade works nicely. The Side window was lovingly cut and sanded and filed into submission to put the flames on the window! Ran into a problem shortly after creating my *magiccal* effect, in that my case color did not lend itself to displaying the flames very well in a dimly lit LAN environment. So I cam up with the 2nd layer of sanded UV blue acrylic that is lit with UV CCFL's! Add into that the other colors that are present in the acrylic (to be explained in a second) and I got my flames lit up enough to be seen at a LAN party! ;)

2) The flames actually flicker. I built a controller for all of the series LED's that is based off of hard drive LED activity. When the drive is at rest (off) certain LED's stay lit. When there is activity, then the other LED's light up and the first set goes off. So there is this constant play between the colors in the flames that makes the flames not only light up... but flicker and dance as well!

3) 92mm exhaust fan. Was a regular UV green fan, but I tapped 3 holes into the frame and aimed UV LED's in a triangle pattern. I tied them into the same plug used by the fan off of the motherboard, and then sleeved the connection in black so that it would not show up.

4) Custom Power cabling - I bought some UV reactive wire and some corresponding black molexes and the male or female pins needed to fil each location, and then built my own cable system. The Ultra cables are nice, but too bulky for how small my case actually was. So I gathered inspiration from another modder on another forum and redid the work in my flavor! The cable spacers are UV Green acrylic that have been tapped, drilled and added into the cable array. Kinda tricky to plan out how many cables you need, how many molexes will be used, where the spacers are going to be put in, etc... but I like the results!

5) Crushed Velvet in the bottom to give it that "pimp's couch" feel, as well as add in an areas for me to cover cables and connections! I plan on redeux'ing this later on, but for now... I like how this all lays out.

6) Bulgin Vandal switch on the front for power

7) Front intake for 80mm front fan with active LED show in the middle of it!

PS: In the time since I finished the mod 2 very exciting things happened:
1) I won the Bawls HotMod of the month for March!
and
2) I won MaxPC "Rig of the Month" for June! So, keep you eyes open!

Very excited on that!

yeah man, I saw that rig in the back of my last maximumpc mag. Good job! Did you get anything from them for winning besides being in the mag?

I got a little box of booty that had some pretty sweet stuff in it!!
Not the former cash award that they had when BAWLS was sponsoring the competition...
Lots of modding kit stuff (lights, LED handles, cable wraps, etc.), a hat, couple of shirts, 4 copies of the MaxPC mag with my rig in it, PC Gamer, XBOX, PS Gamer, 2 books (one MaxPC book on modding and one on building the ultimate computer), Doom3 expansion pack, some pencils. Was a fun box to open! :D

OH MAN...PENCILS!!!!!!

j/k....sounds pretty cool. Congratulations!
