Bitdefender Antivirus Plus 2014 (Value Edition, 3 PCs/2 Years, Download) $6.99

Isn't that exactly what the people saying the software sucks are doing as well?

Seriously though, I'll say it again. I've been running BD on Windows 8 (now 8.1) for over a year now, and I have yet to have a single problem. It costs me zero perceivable performance, and has kept my PC clean. I gave a copy to my parents when their PC was pretty badly infected, and it cleaned it right up. I don't doubt people that say they had issues with BD, but I also don't think they are in the majority. If it really was as bad as some people are claiming, it would show up in a review or two, and the software definitely wouldn't be ranked at the top like it has for several years now.

I know I've seen plenty reviews for every AV where someone says it's the worst piece of crap ever. But the forums have several reporting similar issues to mine including this one: http://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=48228 And, it may have the answer to my problem since I'm using AI Suite III. Given the choice between BD and AI Suite III, I'm dumping BD. I have free Avira working on it now so no big deal other than losing $7.

Well, that version wasn't on sale. In any case, every version including this one lists compatibility with Windows 8. It's not like the system I tried to install on was atypical. It's a new build (a 1 month build with fresh install of Windows), Asus Z87-A MB w/I5-4670K, GTX-780 and that's about it. I don't think there's a single AV that doesn't work or cause problems for somebody. I think it's just the nature of how AVs function that they may conflict with something. I was just unlucky this time I guess.

Indeed I think it just becomes a game of will it install or not. This is the nature of all software as it can't be tested on every computer configuration so it's a shot in the dark on installing anything. Some programs can interfere with any software configuration so you just have to find what works for your system best. Since I don't run a lot of software anymore like I used to my generic pc configuration allows for just about anything to install without conflict.

I think most people are to quick to say something doesn't work right when it is the hardware and software configurations of our own systems that prevent things from running smoothly.

Never paid attention to the BBB rating for it, never saw it...

But from my experience the software is fine for the 'average' user but the enthusiast user will find it a PITA to deal with.

I get all kinds of false positives and like I said it just deletes stuff when it thinks it's bad.

Prime example I've got a nice USB drive with built-in fingerprint scanner, 256 aes encryption all that stuff and it's not bad. I got it for free for review, but the point is that I can't use it anymore. I plugged it in and Bitdefender decided that the fingerprint scanner software was a virus and deleted it from the USB drive and there was nothing I could do to stop it. Adding to white list and all that does nothing at all. So know my drive cannot be unlocked because I can't run the fingerprint software.

For my wife and kids I have bitdefender free installed on their computers and it works fine for them as they don't do the stuff I do so they have no issues and it does protect their computers. I've installed it on friends computers as well where they're not exactly the brightest bulb in the pack when it comes to computers and since installation I've had less virus related maintenance to do on their computers.

I'll admit it I like to use trainers, never for multiplier games, but I like to actually finish a game without the trainer and then I go back and mess around. Bitdefender will flag 99% of all trainers as a virus and will not let them run. You have to go in and allow it and sometimes that doesn't even work. Some trainers it will just delete automatically without ever running it and I know it's from a safe source.

I've found that Bitdefender works yes but it all depends on how you use you computer and what you like to do with your computers.

If anyone needs a copy or two just PM me, I have a ton of codes from there cheap sale awhile back. I can't run it on my main pc (just tries to mess with to many files including games even when whitelisted etc.) but it works great for grandma pc's etc.
Edit- shit, They are for the internet security suite not just the anti virus, I am not sure if they are like eset and let you activate aeither product. Not for sale just giveaway and maybe someone could be kind and toss me an extra arma 2 for days mod from the last humble bundle

Oh and don't worry no keygen or any crap like that, purchased straight from bitdefender for a something like .13 -.23cents a copy.

BitDefender is horrible. Do not give your money to these thieves. There is a reason they have an F rating with the Better Business Bureau.

Sounds like most of the complaints revolve around automatic billing for services that were not renewed...that is pretty shady, but it looks like the company resolved most of the issues (although possibly not before being nudged by the BBB claims).

Warning for DCS World (A-10C ect.) players. BitDefender flags the updater. When attempting to update it will freeze your PC. It will delete the files and corrupt the game, and will not quarantine them.

I have a copy I never installed, which expires tomorrow. Since I play DCS I might just let it expire.
