It really depends on how much you think it will hold your attention. I basically compare it to Diablo 3 fun while it lasts but it is not the most in depth game play and in the long run it will be repetitive.
It does look amazing tho that is the only part I'm willing to admit has nothing to do with Diablo 3 ;)

I think for me (and I'm guessing most of the people buying the game on Day 1) are betting on the future moreso then the present...bugs need to be fixed but my biggest issue is the lack of content...I'm willing to take a chance because I think the basic gameplay elements are there and just need to be refined and expanded...it's easier to fix things when the basic structure is in place rather then trying to fix the core mechanics...flying/traversal/combat are excellent but they need more variety and content to make it seem less repetitious

I'm just hoping that it won't take a year for Anthem to receive it's 'big' content drop- Destiny 1's Taken King and The Division 1's 1.8 patch...I think people will stick around if they like the game but it's a risk that people will abandon the game...BioWare/EA should not take for granted that things will get better over time and fix as many things as possible quickly

The one single problem with that view on Anthem is, Destiny and Division both had PvP to keep the game alive during the drought of content. And the Raids to aspire to......Anthem really has neither at this point. But I hope you are right, I think they've got 3 months at best and not a entire year. Thats going to be the major problem with their model, people aren't going to buy cosmetics on a die'ing game.

Anthem has my full attention for 1 month...at that time I'm moving over to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice because I love From Software games...I'll go back into Anthem after Sekiro so I'm hoping to see a major improvement at that time

Anyone having the mouse and keyboard lag/freeze problems?
    I can hardly play.
My javelin would just keep moving or aiming and no other inputs would register.
    This happens a lot...A LOT
Playing with the controller fixes this but cant play for shit with a controller

You were busy astroturfing a different forum?

How about scraping a 6 out of 10 then?

"Gamers", i.e. customers, are jaded because AAA publishers are for the most part despicable, duplicitous and predatory. They have done nothing to earn trust but everything to earn the scorn heaped upon them. It is extraordinary that there are people who defend their behavior because of some misguided belief that they will actually fix their half baked shit. Publishers love the fact that they can shovel broken garbage out and have people pay them for it with some nebulous promise to fix it in the future because....."live service".

and yet you support them as well by buying their games when it goes on sale- Ubisoft AC games etc...so it's OK to support these 'despicable, duplicitous and predatory' publishers if the price is right?

I pay what their products are worth (taking into account all the other bullshit they pull) because I know that their asking price at release is not representative of a finished and polished product, unless you are suggesting I should steal them instead.

if they were so 'despicable, duplicitous and predatory' as you claim then you wouldn't buy their games at any cost...it must not be too bad if you're willing to ignore your morals to buy them for cheap...buying their games means you are supporting them

I wouldn't buy them because you say so and that's the only puerile argument you have left at your disposal? I am pretty sure I can buy whatever I want, and make a decision as to how much a product is worth to me taking into account such behavior (which happens to be very little, if not zilch, in the case of most EA games).

Just disconnected my controller's dongle (Xbox one controller) and had one freeze happen.
But didn't really have time to test, will give it another go later

As lame as the reviews are I expect this game to sell many copies because gamers want something new. This is the first AAA original game I've seen in sometime that isn't a sequel, reboot or licensed.

"new" It is meant to cut a slice of the destiny pie, what's new about that? It doesn't even try to be all that different.

I got a chance to play for a few minutes and performance felt dismal. You also have to restart the damn game every time you change any of the graphics settings.
FPS were bouncing between 60 and 30, so I'm a little curious if it's not using triple buffering or if some particular setting is absolutely killing performance. I'm on a 2080Ti and it's not like the graphics are that good.
Anyone have any insight? I'd like to dial in my settings before actually playing seriously.

What res and cpu are you using? I'm on a gtx 1080+9600k and get 80-90 fps with everything ultra @ 1080p

I typically hover between 85-100fps at Ultra graphics settings. I'm using a gsync monitor and ingame vsync is set to off. Something is amiss on your rig. I dont think ive seen the game drop to 60 let alone 30fps. I'd start with disabling vsync and if that resolves the issue then maybe try running with fastsync to eliminate the tearing.

Forgot to mention im running 3440x1440 res. I cant speak to 4K performance.

I'm at 4K with vsync on. Screen tearing is a huge no-no for me. I'm on a TV so freesync/gsync aren't an option.
My CPU is an OC'd 8700k. I can max out literally every other game I own except AC: Odyssey and I'm not far off on that one.
That's why I'm wondering if triple buffering isn't enabled. That's one of those things that can cause your FPS to drop from 60 to 30 rather than simply down to 55 or 50.

When you first start the game, it's running fine, but looking to the left (where all of the lava and smoke effect are) makes my FPS absolutely plummet. Turning around normalizes everything. I start running toward my objective and again, the FPS absolutely plummets when looking in certain directions. Ususally toward the lava and smoke effects. The last game to to this to me was AC: Black Flag which had no triple buffering. You had to use 3rd party tools to enable it in that game.

I hear you. Try disabling vsync ingame and enabling fastsync in the Nvidia control panel. Its a good chance it will resolve your issue, assuming the game isnt using native triple-buffering.

I had to turn AA down from ultra to TAA on my 2080ti to run 4K decent. With AA on Ultra the FPS was fairly poor.

Yup, that's my plan. Not sure if it still works, but Direct3DOverrider used to work well with older games that didn't support it, too. With Black Flag there was also a trick to force it to run in a borderless window (which also forces it), but that disables HDR these days.

It really makes me wish Bioware would have just invested the resources they split down the middle with Andromeda and this game on a single game. Both games had the potential to be something really special, but both just didn't deliver enough.

Everything under EA's umbrella uses the Frostbite engine now. And Beamdog owns the Baldur's Gate IP, where a Baldur's Gate III is already supposedly in development. Beamdog was founded by BioWare cofounder Trent Oster.

German is rusty, but I believe the sign says "hopefully not banned" :ROFLMAO:. Other than that, game is already being discounted? €39.00 is about $45.00 USD. Maybe Media Markt is concerned about the pre-release chatter and worried they ordered too many copies.

Story in a multiplayer game? Yeah i don't think that's a selling point. Gameplay wise the only new thing is that you can fly (awkwardly and uncontrollably) The rest is a very tired and old MMO formula.

it's an easy decision for me: skip.

Not to suggest that this is the case with Anthem, but if it's more of a 'co-op' style then perhaps that's not that big of a deal.

New patch released. So far the game is good IMHO. The roll out has been complete derp though. Whoever thought releasing the game early should be fired.
