As the game approaches release, Bioware is showing off more and more of Anthem. Over the weekend, IGN gave us a 15 minute look at one of Anthem's missions, and EA has revealed even more in their official CES 2019 trailer.

Check out the 4k footage here.

Check out the latest exclusive 4K Anthem gameplay revealed at our CES 2019 keynote! It features never-before seen Javelin, enemies, and environments. The team is happy to announce that DLSS is coming to Anthem thanks to the hard work of Bioware and NVIDIA. Be ready for the PC launch on February 22nd, 2019!

Looks pretty. Hopefully it's actually fun. Amused me that they said they worked with Nvidia to bring higher resolution textures. DLSS sure but what does nvidia have to do with high resolution textures? Or did I mishear that?

I am cautiously optimistic about this game...but after the recent changes to BF5 "live services" I have serious doubts again. I just don't get it. BF5 was decent and fair...now, charging for a fucking "red dot"....go to hell.

Skeptical optimism here. I played the closed alpha, and had fun with it the little content they gave access to. I can see the game being a huge hit, assuming they actually take feedback from the alpha and implement it, and then don't destroy the game with micro-transactions.

We'll see. I remain reluctantly hopeful for the game.

It's pretty much destiny 2 in a mech body. I alpha tested it, and can tell you that it can be fun exploring, more so then the gated destiny approach, so it will have an audience.

It’s like they put Halo, Titanfall, Tribes and the movie Avatar in a blender - end result has that weird deja vu familiarity despite being “new”

Why do all these types of games all have maps that take place in some sort of contrived valleys? They are either in between mountains or in between skyscrapers. Limitation of the engine?
Easier to make AAA graphics scalable if you only render a limited area. I bet it also has to do with the number of assets. When you have this valley/canyon level design you can get away with just “foreground” assets and a skybox. Compare that to something (like recent battlefield games) where there are animations and assets fading out into the distance. So probably time/cost saving measure to avoid creating all those small, low-poly models and the 2D art / textures

Kinda like Warframe meets Destiny 2 ???
Think less Warframe and More Destiny. Like, 90% to 10%. I'm a big fan of Warframe, but absolutely could not get in to Destiny, but what I played of the closed alpha seemed more like open-world Destiny gameplay.

Random wildlife aren't the focus of Anthem but it seems like part of the philosophy difference between it and Warframe. I loved slicing through a Grineer the first week but then the 1,000th time it gets more mundane.

Mass Effect: Andromeda and Frostbite didn't seem limited in the terrain. The physical environment was good. (no need to discuss other parts of the game in this thread IMO)

I just ordered a couple 2080ti's and noticed it came with this game and BFV. Looks nice, I'll give it a shot for sure.

It's a game with a jetback, I'm pretty sure they're making lots of vertical to take advantage of that dynamic.

The story is shoehorned in between coop missions where your teammates are selected by random matchmaking. So basically the same system as ME3's multiplayer. Except the jetpacks which were absolutely abysmal to control in the alpha. And gunplay is much worse than ME3 as well. Hell it's much worse than ME:A even. It felt more like a free to play experience than AAA quality. The graphics isn't that outstanding either, the parts in the trailer are cherry picked, the game was nowhere near that good looking during regular missions. And parts of the gameplay reminded me of hellgate london.

Hard pass. Unless they pay me. This type of game and gameplay just sucks. Tries to be too many things and fails at all of them. Shiny poop.

I'm concerned that hardcore SJW Anita Sarkeesian was invited to visit with the Anthem team. If there's any noticable SJW influence on the game, I'm not buying. I normally like this type of game, but I'm done with SJW crap.

Shrugs, not sure what you heard in the trailer, but DLSS is supposed to be AA as good as the best NVidia can offer, but it actually improves performance while not decreasing image quality (supposedly)

Can't speak to ME but I know my Battlefield. The maps are smaller then they ever were. The maps of 1942 dwarf the maps of the current engines which is why the pilots fly like they are in fish bowls. If you want to see a true large scale map with realistic terrain see Arma3 or even Just Cause to a certain extent.

Just ruins a game for me at this point. Sure this little slice of map looks amazing, but you cant fly over the mountain range and everything is this flat valley with fabricated barriers. Probably just a me thing, but they seem as limited as trying to play in a Mortal Combat "map". Almost every AAA game seems to follow this same map design philosophy these days.

Anthem looks amazing in these trailers. I struggled to enjoy it during the Alpha, the constant loading or waiting took me away from the experience. I will have to say I spent a good amount of time looking around admiring the gorgeous graphics!

It looks good but I'll never buy it while I can't get it on a platform I like.

The Ironman like suits are pretty sweet. I hope they are weaponizable instead of just using guns. It also looks great graphically. This might be the first game I buy in 2 1/2 years.

Anthem is very much about your "suit" and synergizing with other players. Cool downs are pretty short so it is meant to be a hybrid of gun play and your suit.
