A new independent study by AV-Test has found that Bing directs you to websites with malware five times more often than Google. An interesting statistic to be sure, but in the overall picture, it’s still an insignificant percentage of the total sites visited on a daily basis.

Despite the millions of searches carried out, it's a relatively small sample of search engines' traffic - Selinger points out that Google alone deals with two to three billion search requests per day.

I don't believe this at all, wondering what company this was put out by, betting Google itself.

Read the article, supposedly this was a unbiased test but seeing what they tested for, I don't see how this really does anything to the typical person that does any type of searching. Searching for things myself, most things I find that spit out viruses tend to be google sense ads and lately downloads on CNET

IMO...makes perfect sense. It's in MS's favor to infect (or overlook infected sites targetting) more windows based computers...not Googles.

Repeat customers.

This is complete bullshit I've seen Google top searches be flat out crap than anything, but I use opendns on my network so I have great filters in place.

Or with how things are looking they would just stop using a normal PC and just use their Android based smartphone/tablet ;).

Isn't AV-Test a German company? How can we trust anything the Germans do when we know they're the ones responsible for some guy who renamed himself "Kim Dotcom" and they get horribly upset over that castle conquest game called WoofStine? They also make some of the worst cars on the planet as anyone who's ever owned a Kia can attest.

KIA/Hyundai is south Korean genius and are very reliable these days. And most of their cars are built here in a huge new state of the art plant in Georgia.

Google actively filters porn sites now, this isn't surprising.

All this really tells me is to switch to Bing for my porn searches and make sure NoScript is running ;)

bing is generally a piece of shit, but when it comes to porn it destroys google in finding the good shit

Wow, how many times is Microsoft going to keep fucking their loyal customer base?
All the way to the bank I guess. :(

Exactly. Now that Google has safesearch by default, it's less prone to reach sites that install malware.

I started using Bing when Google pulled its online shopping support for fire arms, assesorys and optics. I couldnt even use it to find hunting assesories. So I went to Bing and it work better then I expected. Even though Google realised they alienated a large part of their users and the revenue loss they quietly put that feature back. I still use bing as it generaly gives me the results I want while google generates a bunch of garbage. Some times I will use both as they both give different results.

The article doesn't say Google searches never delivers malware, but that Bing is five times more likely to. They did tens of millions of searches so their sample size is bigger than yours, and hence more accurate.

Well Mister Hiss VT, I can see why you picked such a catty screen name. Even if they are indeed made in Georgia that's still a third world nation and is closer to Russia. You're obviously now very well-informed when it comes to anything to do with cars. Stick to computers and leave anything with a steering wheel in it to those guys you see driving around with gigantic redneck trucks.

Did you even take the 2 mins to read the fucking article?

If you look closely, which you didn't, you will notice that they didn't even scan the same number websites.

Oh shit google delivers 0.00249% malware while Bing delivers 0.0117%

Sounds like a tie to me.
