Biggest Videocard jump u ever made

Voodoo 3 3000 >>>>>>> ATI 9500
Didn't really notice too much of a difference. Just more options with the new card. The Voodoo 3 is still running strong after 4~ years operation. Hope it never dies!

from PNY Geforce 2 MX 400 to 9800 Pro. That card lasted me for a good 2 or 3 years before I decided to update around the time of Deus Ex 2's release.

Wasn't me but I built both systems for my uncle, he went from a voodoo2 to Asus 9800XT

ati 3d rage pro agp 2x - 4mb ram
to a
sapphire 9600xt

as soon as i move this computer to the backroom and bring my new built one in this spot

trident VGA 2MB --> nvidia GFX5600 256MB ram

LOL j/k

i think it went something like

1. whatever the hell was built into an appleIIC
2. Trident SVGA 2MB
3. Ati Rage II 2MB
3. Xpert98 8MB OH WOW 4 times the memory!!!
4. ATi Rage pro 4MB (for server not for gamming)
5. Voodoo3 16MB (omg i can run UT!!)
6. GF2MX400 32MB Ram (doubled again... wooo!! UT even FASTAR!)
7. Radeon9000 128MB ram (omg that is quaddrupled the memory again!!)
8. Nvidia 5600 256MB ram (doubled again)

not sure what is a really big jump since

laptopwise

Dell inspiron i believe had NeoMagic 128XV 2MB
compaq persarion Trident cyberblade (LMAO) 8MB
Dell Inspiron ATI Rage mobility 32 Mb ram
Asus D1 Sis POS worthless SiS 650 CRap garbage max shared memory 64MB hate this shitchip

CGA (four color) Epson II 8086 with 8mhz turbo speed - to svga 16,000,000 color with 4mbs of video dedicated RAM...

Okay, so I'm old : )

My story:

Gateway intergrated graphics chip on a 200mhz pentium. to
Voodoo 3 (PCI slot) to
GeForce 2 GTS 32mb to
........

Im still running the GeForce2 GTS 32mb. ;)

I bought all the parts i needed for a complete new system. They shoudl arrive soon. I picked out the powercolor 256bit 9800se. Ill try the softmod and see if i can get this to 9800pro :)

Rage Pro 8MB IGP (that's right folks.. 8 megs of blazing fast sdram!!)

to a

GeForce 2 MX400 32MB

Goddamn that was an amazing increase. Could play Colin McRae 2 in all its glory :p

geforce 2 mx 400 -> 9700 Pro

and recently

Radeon 9700 Pro -> Radeon 9800 Pro.. w00t?

Ah the memories...

ATI MACH64 2MB PCI - Matrox Mystique 4MB PCI - VooDoo 1 4MB - Guillemot Banshee 16MB AGP - Voodoo3 2000 AGP - VooDoo5 5500 AGP (killed it with heat!) - Kyro II 64MB AGP - GF4 ti4200 128MB AGP - ATI AIW 9600Pro 128MB AGP

The biggest jump would have to be to a VooDoo1 4MB PCI add-on board. That was the first time I stared slack-jawed at the screen. After that, all were incremental and I got more and more jaded.:D

The single most memorable jump was from Sis 530 Integrated to Monster 3D II, Voodoo 2 12MB.

It wasn't better than sex, but dayum, my games worked...

GF2 Ti to GF4 Ti4600 when they were released. SKipped the entire GF3 series cards.:)

trident9000a/Ati mach64 was my biggest jump lol. from a 512kb graphics card to a blistering 2meg ohyeah:p

my friend did the same however i wasnt so lucky i ended up with a gf3 ti500 soon after my gf2. now i'm doing the waiting game on the next gen cards cuz i dont want to be burnt again. this ti500 is not worth it at all especially at retail!

Trident 2mb -> 16mb Riva TNT -> 64mb GeForce3 Ti200

Most impressed by the Riva :)

Onboard graphics>RIVA TNT 16mb >RIVA TNT2 32mb >GF2Ti 64mb> next gen graphics(NV4x/R420)

Biggest jump: onboard to riva tnt
and this next jump from gf2ti to whatever comes out this year.

PCI ATI Mach 64 Ultra Pro Turbo (2mb) to a Creative Voodoo 2 12mb PCI. Though technically, it wasnt actually a JUMP per say, as it was an addition TO the ATI :rolleyes:

Biggest jump was from a 1 MB Cirrus Logic card to a Riva TNT. 16 times the memory, and 3d acceleration (which I had never seen before, having missed the whole Voodoo craze).

Well, either that or from a Radeon LE to my current GF3 Ti200.

I'd have to say the first time I put my voodoo2 into my computer from some shitty 2mb card, I couldnt believe it, my computer could play games!
