I love how bent out of shape people get over PETA... troll or not, seems they do their job fairly well.
No they don't. Every PETA ad I see, I grill up another Panda steak.

SCABBERS! NO!
PETA needs to grow up and get a life, its pretty damn pointless to bitch about a rat being killed in a game, I mean, how stupid is that? Thanks for the laugh PETA by the way. I didn't see anybody moaning about in Call Of Duty you get to shoot, stab and break the dog's neck which is way worse than killing a rat in BF3.
There's another angle to this:
Who the hell plays BF3 for the singleplayer? Who even touches that?
Extremest should all die. If you feel so much passion about something that you can no longer use reason you should die. The world would be much better off without that crazy extremest NRA guy or Religious guy, republican guy, and most of all that PETA guy.
Fun thought of the day: If it were a poisonous snake or an insect of some type, (read: not a furry mammal) they wouldn't have an issue with it whatsoever.
What about red dead. You can kill a dog and skin it.
I really do think EA tipped PETA off to this for extra publicity...
You left out liberal guy and anarchist guy....
I also wouldn't be surprised if PETA was paid to make the statement. I mean, EA wants more gamers to play their games, right? Why not create some controversy by the attention seeking outfits like PETA? PETA probably knows gamers are more likely to play the game if they make a negative statement about it. So... I just wouldn't be surprised either way.
It's a video game -- a story -- a fantasy -- NOT REAL.
Using this or any form of related logic means that the entire entertainment culture would need to be torn down.
I've played video games for 25 years - and not once have I ever shot up a school, picked up hookers, done drugs, or imitated anything I've seen in the virtual world. Probably because I'm smart enough to know it's a VIRTUAL world.
Let's say it was real life though - kill a rat vs give my position away and die myself? Yeah REAL hard choice there. Anyone who would chose to let the rat live at the cost of your own life has no grasp on the concept of survival of the fittest, or for war/life/death either.
Sometimes I really do wonder -- video games catch so much flak for this but if you ask me the PETA wackjobs are the ones living in the fantasy land and have no touch with reality of the world. (the reality of the world being that is can be cruel/mean/painful/and filled with death. Deal with it.
Wait, you could choose to kill the rat?
This is the same organisation that complained about Cooking Mamma, because in a game where you use imaginary ingredients to make imaginary food, some of the recipies werent vegitarian!
Seriously, Fuck PETA
