Before I open this BF3 DVD that I picked up, can someone tell me if it must stay in the drive any time you want to launch or play the game? If it is one of those, then I will take it back before opening it, and buy the download version. I really dislike having to have the DVD in, and I don't feel like messing with manipulating an image file of the DVD just to get around it if it is one of those.

no, infact you can just enter the cd key into origin and download the digital copy and never even use the dvd if you wish

I got the game on DVD as well and no after installing it you do not need the DVD anymore. It is nice being able to install it off the DVD tho. Much much faster than having to download it, at least for me.

I even went as far as copying the DVD content onto a USB 3 flashdrive and it installed hella quick off of that. Only reason i did that is my main gaming rig has no optical drive.
