Bethesda Bans Fallout 76 Players for Life after Shocking In-Game Homophobic Attack

Do you even know what "triggered"means? Triggered is an actual psychological condition in which a person who has experienced a VERY traumatic experience (i.e. rape, kidnapping, etc) has the same physical response over again when a "trigger" reawakens the memory of that event. It most emphatically IS NOT to be used when you feel offended or butt hurt. Doing so belittles those people who have actual real mental issues to deal with.

 

Haven't spoken to anyone online since 2009, when I owned consoles. Started PC gaming and I only use the chat screen.
I get where things are going in the match and I flow with it. No need to listen to people whine.

For everyone here saying “that’s just gaming culture”, well, maybe it shouldn’t be. Maybe we can all be better as a species and not be total assholes as soon as people don’t know who we actually are. Are people these days way too soft and probably need to man up? Yes, 100%. Does that mean companies like Bethesda need to, or should, tolerate griefers creating an environment in their game that makes people (who apparently have decided it doesn’t suck ass despite popular opinion) no longer want to play? No.

 

How about a simple setting in the game. Troll or troll free zone, or a selection box for what type of players you want to be around. Id love to not play with 10 year olds, or people who are "so high right now".

I always wondered, if those 'im so high right now' people say that at the start of every random match. I think the lowest i have had was a 9 or 10 year old told me they were going to rape my mom.

 

Some games have ignore list limits. They should also make it a quicker thing to do. Some are a quick click others you have to browse their profile and go down. taking long enough to idle out of a match.

 

The RAND group also said we were winning the Vietnam war and it would be done in less than 2 years....see how well that turned out. But go ahead, pick data that agrees with your viewpoint and then use it as a club. Better yet, take the data out of context and use that as a club..that is going pro level by far. Maybe get a job at CNN or Fox?

The player being banned is perfectly fair (there are no dedicated servers for individual banning from his home/favorite server); this being news is absurd.

I judge the situation on the actions of a weak ass bully from a family of hate where the mom and brother have both gone to jail for racially charged crimes. You propped him up as an innocent victim and I corrected you. That's it. Almost everything else here is you pretending I'm saying something I'm not. Oh and a few history lessons as well.

I grew up in the 80s, bullying was common. I had my share of fights. However, I never kicked the shit out of someone. I held back.

Ultimately Bethesda has the right to run their private service as they see fit. I have a right as a consumer not to purchase their services/products if I disagree with them. I didn't buy their product for a couple reasons. A: the product sucks. B: censoring people, I believe in complete free speech even if offensive or abusive. C: No steam.

Personally I'm not one to care about feelings, and I think most people are far too soft. If you can't handle people saying mean words you need to grow up quite a bit.

I do feel everyone should have the freedom to be an asshole, just wish they wouldn't do it. Controlling people does not make the problem go away, it just bottles it.

That said, I have probably 95% of my games set for friends voices only or none if that option does not exist. I was annoyed at the loud music people blast into their mics or the cussing kids so I just muted everyone so that I could enjoy my gaming experience.

That and I usually have music playing so there really is no room to hear anyone on voice lol.

There was a time where my attitude about MP games was much much different. Back in the days of Descent 3, Rocket Arena 3, Unreal, etc., there just didn't seem to be as much horseshit as there is today. I want good people to play with, people that are willing to both teach and have fun and for the group of us to learn to work together during matches. That to me was the best gaming of all, but like everything else in this life, there has to be that small group of cunts who take it upon themselves to pooch it up for everyone else with their bullshit.

This is why I ignore violence or other forms of mistreatment aimed at this particular group of cunts as I feel they 100% deserve every bit of misery they get.

If "mean words" are your worst worry you have it sooooooo easy. Our ancestors had to worry about a lion jumping out of the bushes and feasting on them or a big windstorm blowing down their grass hut.
