I'm not sure what shimmering issues you are talking about, but I'll take your word for it. However, after playing it for hours on hours at Quakecon a week ago it runs the game absolutely great. Enough with the "unplayable" nonsense from someone who obviously doesn't own one.Garric said:The 7800GTX BECAUSE I SAID SO. OH wait...
NOPE, that's a bad idea.. because it has SHIMMERING ISSUES, make your game un playable.
Nomad said:Sorta OT to the question - You might also consider picking up 2Gb of memory for the box that you are playing the game on. I have not read about putting everything on high on a GTX - but on ALL other cards, in order to set all settings to high, you had to have 2Gb of memory.

Dudeyourlame said:why do we need 2 gigs of memory for a game that looks like Delta Force blackhawk down or whatnot ... EA sucks at coding or whats the deal?

Either way, my 7800GTX rocks in BF2, can't wait for my Dell 2405FPW

Ths issue is there but its prominence varies according to the title and the user's sensitivity to the effect. Some people never even realized there was an issue until somebody told them where to look. Hopefully Nvidia can release a fix soon but it certainly doesn't make any game "unplayable".
Rob978 said:Obviously the 7800 GTX is going to be the best, however not everyone has that kind of money to burn, if you're looking for a budget card go with the 6600GT from XFX or the 6800GT....(same card just with 128mb memory or 256mb memory)
