Best resolution for CoD2 and 2005FPW

A few questions about CoD2 and my rig...

I have a 2005FPW but my computer needs updating. My rig is a Barton2800, 1GB PC3200, Raptor, 9800pro 128MB.

CoD2 offers widescreen resolutions but none match my aspect ratio. The 2005FPW is 1680x1050. I doubt I can run at the resolution, however.

So what of the following options should I be using?:
Resolutions options are are 1280x720, 1280x768, 1280x960.
Aspect ratio is: Auto, 16:10, 16:9

And then there's the option of refresh rate. Does this matter with an LCD? Would I notice anything if I went from 60Hz to 72 or 75Hz?

You get it by adding the custom res in your Nvidia control panel.

Yeah I heard the Nvidia control panel works great with the ATI Radeon 9800. We know 1280x800 is the right res... but that is not an option.

Anyway, I'm playing at 1280x768 16:10 and it looks good.

BTW, if you have an "old" system like mine and need a performance boost, go to the video options and change the DirectX to DX7 instead of DX9. My FPS went from hovering around 35 to consistently in the 90s and as high as 150s and everything still looked great.
