i have XMS Corsair 2x256 memory right now and i need to upgrade to 2x512gb. I am overclocking and am looking to overclock even more but as of right now i hit a wall at 3.12 , It doesnt matter what i change the ratio to or how the timings are. The wall stays at 3.12. Anyway i have heard that there are certain XMS corsair 3200 chips that are having this problem with my motherboard. Is this accurate? I need to upgrade my memory. I want to spend around 250, give or take. I want the highest possible overclock. If i have to relax timings for a higher FSB so be it. I would prefer to use memory running at 5:4 ratio so i was thinking maybe get PC3500 or PC3700? I can get PC4000 but i just have a feeling that it would end up being overkill if im doing 5:4 ratio. Anyway, any input would help. Thanks

Jacob

I found some Corsair 3700PRO memory(the ones with the LEDs) that i may end up getting. Can someone give me some input if this is a good idea? thanks

That Corsair is great memory. The extra "bling" doesn't hurt, either.....:D For new builds, I shop the best buy between Corsair, Crucial, and Mushkin, and buy what's on sale / best deal at the time.

The wife has Mushkin Level 2 in her IS7 (2.6C) and my IC7 has Crucial's new "Ballistix" memory installed (sig). Both systems have been rock solid and I have no regrets with either of those choices.

OT - you'll find your NBridge HSF will probably limit your OC'ing adventures. I ran into issues on both our systems. For $18.00, this little beauty from Thermalright fixes the problem permanantly.

Good luck - B.B.S.

OCZ pc4000 Gold, will do what you want and more.

$139 per 512MB stick

You don't have to go with a 5:4 ratio to hit 250, especially with a 2.4C and this memory. You'll get much more performance going with a 1:1 ratio.

WeldZilla posted in this forum about his OCZ pc4000 Gold and his 2.4C, which when he did go to a 5:4 ratio, he got up to something like 3.551 Ghz and a 296 FSB :

And the memory is reviewed here:

I can't comment on the IS7, as I haven't used that board.
