I am building a quiet pc that I am going to overclock a tich, and am considering the Scythe SCORC-1000 as my heat-sink, based on my case selection of the Antec P190, which limits my memory selection a bit due to the design.

My build consists of a Intel mobo with at least 1066/1333 specs (model still under consideration), Intel E8400 which im hoping to get to 3.5-4.0Ghz as (quietly as possible) so Im looking for 2-4Gb of DDR2-1066/1333 that is low profile and yet will allow for some oc with passive cooling...

Sugguestion please? Thank you.

Unfortunately the only low-profile DIMMs for DDR2 are FB-DIMMs for 1U rackmount servers. They do not make enthusiast-level low-profile DIMMs. But it is my understanding your heatsink does not require low profile DIMMs, just that you avoid anything with whacky heatspreaders that stick up too high.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231166 is a good choice for DDR2-1066, but to be perfectly honest memory speed doesn't really matter much, and a decent set of DDR2-800 is going to overclock plenty far enough.

You are correct NKDietrich, no whacky heatspeaders...

So do you really think theres no difference between 800/1066/1333 on a gaming basis, or even daily use? Im curious cause I havent made the jump from DDR yet, but i am running DDR-600 so DDR2-800 didnt seem like much of of jump, but if im understanding 'you' correctly, theres no real benifit to going 1066 or 1333 or 800?

Thanks for your input. : )

From the benchmarks I've seen, the difference between DDR2-667 and DDR2-1066 is _tiny_ in everything, (5% difference max, typical was <1%) and non-existent for gaming.

I would like to run 1333 if i can find a good motherboard in my price range, but since thats not where my priorities lay in this build i am limited to around $150-180 for the board and if the best one i find runs at 1066 icould probably deal with that.
