Best old nv card for Doom 3?

I max OG Doom 3 out on a Core 2 duo Windows XP machine with a 128 bit ( 96 shaders ) GT 730 1gb. 60 fps Vsync on in 1920x1080 custom resolution..

6800 Ultra was the recommended card when Doom 3 came out

How you define "old"?
If you mean card for Windows XP then it would be GTX 780Ti
If you mean AGP 8x then I guess 6800Ultra is the fastest card

The Gainward Bliss 7800GS+ is the fastest Nvidia AGP card even in Doom 3. Its just a rebadged 7900GT.

AGP you all say huh? I believe AMD had a 3850 and 4670 on AGP 8X. I think they might be faster.

Yup. Totally forgot about those. IIRC they were also among the last AGP video cards made.

But when Doom 3 came out the 6800 Ultra was the card to have!

I got away with playing it on a Geforce 4 Ti 4200 at 800x600, still looked amazing
