a friend wants an nvidia card, but only has up to $200 to spend. any suggestions? thx!

just so i understand. cuz i don't know the fx gen nvidia cards very well. but why is the 5700ultra better than the 5900? thx man.

no no no. SE = Shitty Edition. NEVER BUY SE! Go with a 5900 NON-Ultra. They are about 220, 230.

SE = shitty edition in Radeon cards, not nvidia. FX5900SE beats the 5700 significantly in every benchmark I've seen.

For $200, it's better to go with ATI, from a performance perspective and especially considering DX9 will work better with it.

Uh, the BFG 5900NU for $199 is just as good as anything ATI offers. Mine is in the mail. Got shipped the day after I ordered.

I second that notion. :) I already have mine and it runs excellent! Ive also owned a 9600XT and the 5900 nu beats it. :)

A few weeks ago you could by a 5900nu (400/850) under $200 with ease. Now many manufacturers are selling the SE version (400/700) and the NU version has been bumped up to $230+. Does anyone know of a guarenteed real NU version for under $200?

BFG doesn't make a SE version yet. You can get the 5900NU for $199.
