Hi guys,

I been having an issue with my integrated Atheros Lan port and I want to replace it with a NIC card. What would best the best NIC card for reasonable price. The only thing the NIC card would do is connect to the internet. I won't be moving large files from one computer to another.

As for uses, I will be playing games online, streaming, etc...
I heard Intel makes reliable NIC cards. What would you guys suggest?

Intel's cards are fantastic. They just work. Anything they make will work just fine for you.

For your application you could get away with about any NIC- Whether Intel, Broadcom, or something else. Since you're not transferring any files, you'll never push the NIC to its limits.

My advice: If you can find an Intel NIC in your price range, get an Intel. If not, just get something that works.

Pet peeve...just "NIC"....which stands for Network Interface Card
Saying "NIC Card" is like saying a "Network Interface Card Card"

Yeah a couple of people use NIC for Network Interface Controller..but they're a wee tiny minority.

Back to answer...Intel..you can find good desktop Intel NICs at newegg for under 20 bucks.
Although pretty much anything will be an upgrade from that Atheros....gawd do I dislike Atheros..especially their wireless chipsets.
