Hello everyone,

I have settled on a Q6600 as a processor for the new machine I am building. It is intended to serve as a gaming/programming rig for the next 2 years (at which point Nehalem should be firmly in budget range). I will probably settle on either a 4850, 4870, or gtx 260 as my video card.

I plan to overclock the Q6600 without pushing it too hard (ideally want to get it in the 3.0-3.2 ghz range). I do not intend to use Crossfire or SLI at any point in the future. What board would be a good budget selection around or under $100? What board would be good in the $150 range and what advantages would it provide over the budget board?

Thanks a lot for any info you can provide.

p35 or p45 for a quad. most of them are under $150, many under $100.

i dont really know what to tell you. there are many asus, gigabyte and msi p45/35 boards under $150, but i couldnt actually suggest that someone buy one. for a little over $150, there is the dfi p45, and the biostar tpower p45.

I'm running 2 rigs (top 2 in my sig) with Q6600 G0 on EVGA nForce i650 Ultra Mobos ... no issues here. And I do get onboard SATA RAID and 4 DDR2 slots. Both have 4GB in 4x1 and 2x2 configs. May not be bleeding or leading edge, but I also didnt have to dish out over $100 for either one.

Thanks a lot for all the input. I inevitably ended up going with the Asus P5Q Pro when it was on sale. It was too good an offer for me to pass up. Thanks again.

Be sure to update its BIOS before you try to install Windows...the BIOS on it is not so good, the most up-to-date on the ASUS site is good.

Thanks a lot for reminding me. I remembered seeing that when I bought it, but forgot about it since it has been a while.
