Best lightweight firewall software?

One of my laptops recently got infected with a rootkit and I'm feeling paranoid. I'm looking for good firewall software. I don't want ads, special offers, bundled virus scanning, etc. and I don't mind paying.

Is there anything out there that won't bug the shit out of me or bog down my PC?

A firewall solution alone is not going to keep you from getting another rootkit.

Correction... Uninstalling java completely would help. I too just recently got hit with a rookit (First time in a long time) and I'm pretty sure it was related to visiting a site that had java on it. It's off my box right now and I haven't needed it yet.

Having some type of script blocker would definitely help to keep sites from running the malicious script in the first place though.
