Best Gaming Case

Wondering what the best gaming case I can get for no more than £120. I am in the UK. this is for a PC that I will be buying in 2-3 months. I need to get case now because I broke my current one :(

Overclockers.co.uk is the site I usually purchase from.

ATM my #1 choice is Thermaltake Element V, but this is mostly based on..

the overall budget for the PC will be about £1000 inc case. But i'm only looking for a case right now. Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

BTW size doesn't matter, even if case is huuuuge I don't mind.
 
The element V is a little gaudy for my tastes, but to each his own.

Having only had experience with CM cases I might be a little biased

If you're looking for a decent affordable full tower the Cooler Master HAF 932 is an excellent choice. tons of space, big quite fans and room for pretty much anything.

If you're willing to go a little outside of your budget I highly recommend Cooler Master 840ATCS, I love having the removable motherboard tray and the construction is outstanding.

if your in europe why not go with fractal designs they retail for about 90 and there pretty awesome cases.
 
What do you recommend about it? Antec 1200 might be another possibility? Cosmos 1000 looks nice too... hmm so many choices, but which is best?
 
Hmm, I'm contemplating now. Main reason I want the case now is because I dropped the side of my current one ripping the wires out of the two side fans. Cores now running at around 60c (Q6600). Do I....

a) Get a new case to cool my cores.
b) Wait till I have the full amount of money (2-3 months), when I am completely rebuilding my PC.
c) Other, please explain?

No I don't have a soldering iron :Sad Face:. Also, considering the release of USB3.0, maybe waiting will mean the 3.0 cases become more prevalent. Possible pro?

get a new case to cool your cores.
 
for less than $175 usd there are many really good cases. lian li pc p50 armorsuit, lian li pc7 and pc8 series, silverstone rv02, cm sniper, cm atcs 840, lian li b25, etc. i would definitely go with a lian li for years of service, craftsmanship, hundreds of parts for customizing/changing your cases as your config changes and just overall quality. after 10 years with ll i recently got a sniper, but i wanted a big case.
 
I like my CM690 II Advanced. Cheap, Has nice cable management and lots of cooling options. And its sharp looking without being gaudy. I loved my Antec 900 but I'm glad to be away from the glowing blue fans.
 
there is no "best case" out there for gaming. Just get one that looks appealing and has at least a front and rear fan with some cable management holes. Generally speaking Lian Li and Silverstone have the best quality, and Antec and Coolermaster provide a really high bang for your buck.
 
I recommend a full tower. any full tower. Coolermasters are fairly cheap and make nice cases.

I tried the Element V and it was too small to fit my EVGA Classified motherboard. It's too bad I was really psyched to try out the built in lighting scheme.
Unless you're going with a smaller motherboard, I'd avoid that case. The measurements also can be inaccurate on it. It is actually only 18" deep.

If you want big high end cases I think you're choosing between:

Those are the cases that will be able to fit the biggest, most extreme motherboards, video cards, watercooling systems, etc.

Now if you don't need something that big, I recently saw a Silverstone FT02 in person that looks pretty sweet.

I like my HAF932, but I got it before those other cases came out. I supplement the HAF932's original fans with another 120mm front intake, a 120mm bottom intake, and a slot cooler. I had to add fan filter material myself which was bothersome but it works. I still wish it came with the fan filters standard. Some don't like the industrial look, but I was looking for the best cooling performance. And it is VERY roomy. It easily accomodated TWO 5970 video cards, the 1200 watt psu, my evga classified, and my megahalem HSF. Plus it has room for a 360 radiator with 3x fans to be installed up top in place of the single 230mm fan.

I just took a peek at the new HAF X case. And it looks pretty nice but WHY is it not painted entirely black on the inside?

I'm running an Antec 902. It's not quite a full tower, but it cools nicely.

Everyone seems to love their lian li and silverstone cases, and are satisfied with their antec and coolermaster cases. I keep hearing negatives about thermaltake cases and their cheapness.

My reccomendations are:

mid tower: Antec 902

holy shit!! somebody took your motherboard, cpu and the rest of your components out of your silverstone and split!!!

also, maybe the same guy took your cm sniper and put some slightly different plastic crap on the outside!!!
 
just got my FT02, if you can stomach the cost it seems pretty damn solid so far.

LoL, actually I opened up my Silverstone and found out it would NOT fit my motherboard. If you look very closely the motherboard is XL-ATX (170-BL-E762-A1). With three way SLI GTX 480 it requires 8-9 PCI slots. Even the 800D would have problems accommodating my motherboard since it is longer and extends past the 8th PCI slot.

My HAF X eats those components up, and poor FT02 is too small.

I'd point you towards either the Storm Scout or the Storm Sniper. I've had the Scout for a while, and other than the fan mounts on the side panel (which I just posted about a few minutes ago), it's a damn-near perfect case (unless you are planning on running SLI/Crossfire with a massive water cooling rad).

The front USB/audio/eSATA panel is especially robust, and the whole front panel comes off in literally one second to make for easy dusting.
 
Pick up an old full tower PC for cheap. I got a Gateway G6 333 for free and gutted it for a rather powerful machine. Let me tell you, it's one of the best cases I've ever used. It's sturdy, understated, roomy, plenty of drive bays, well cooled, and I didn't even pay a cent.
