Best Gaming around $1000

Looking to spend around 1k on a laptop, want to play starcraft 2 and Diablo 3. Would the hp with i7 core and 1 gb nvidia 230m be wise or should i go for a core 2 duo with a better gpu? Any reccomendations?
 
Build a system off newegg vs buy a pre built. Core 2 + better video card will give you better performance now but will be less upgradeable in the future.

I checked the systems on newegg for around a grand and they are not up to the level of the core i7 system.
 
build one? you know we're in the laptop section right? If there is some way to build my own laptop I would love to, I looked into that a few years back but it was not an option.
 
well, you can get barebones laptops, but it doesnt really save you anything these days.
 
bestbuy's asus notebook is pretty good for price. It comes with LED screens and GTX260m
 
I would check around on ebay for a Gateway 7805-u or something similar to that, I have one and love it. I was one of the lucky ones to get it refurbished from Tigerdirect before they sold out a while back :D
