GTX 660TI on the NVIDIA side... HD 7950 on the AMD side, being the HD7950 the best performance cards of both...

for 300... I'd get a twin frozr 7950.

It's going to be better than your 6950.. but not a ton. Noticeable but not life changing.

you need at least a 670 or oced 7950 to have a worthwhile upgrade over what you have now.

The GTX 760 Ti is rumored to be released sometime in June for $300 and have performance around 20% better than a GTX 660 Ti. So, this is a time to just wait a couple of weeks. Either you'll get the 760 Ti, or you'll get an Nvidia 670 or AMD 79xx card that becomes cheaper due to the 760 Ti release.

Don't get the msi twin frozr 3. I have one and the fan gets loud under load and the vrms run hot. I would suggest a 7970 used off the forums, but if you're limited to amazon get a 7950

Im selling 3 GIGABYTE 7970s that all 3 do 1060/1750 with a little voltsge bump for cheap :)

Have the same card and I'm playing at 2560x1440. I'm going to hang in there till this autumn. We already know that nVidia will continue to replace the 600-series (titan->780->760 likely). Not sure what AMD is up to but the pricing on these old cards (7900-series and 600-series) isn't that attractive IMO given that we can't be more than 6 months from the refresh being completed on both sides.

Don't buy anything less than a 7970 or 7950, you won't notice much improvement. Unless you are really eager to do some gaming right now, I would suggest you just wait until the end of the year and see what's available.

I went from a 6970 to a 7970 and the change was meh, not really earth shaking like it would be to a Titan or 780, or AMD next gen cards coming late this year.

That's kinda my thought. I was going to go from a 6950 2gb model to a 7870xt, but decided against it. Just not enough gain there.

The GTX 670 started artifacting after a week of usage. BioShock and Crysis3 the graphics are all garbled up but the desktop is fine. So I sent it back and have $322 amazon credit. I'm leaning towards the sapphire 7950 vapor x 3gb.

well Bioshock will eventually artifact on the newest patch and 314.22 drivers. going back to patch 3 or using the previous drivers would have stopped that. I did not see any artifacting in Crysis 3 though.
