Best ~$250 Upgrade From A GTX275

Well, I haven't done all that much gaming lately but I think it is time to replace my GTX275. I have a Dell 30" 2560x1600 display and I am looking for recommendations on a good replacement card for casual gaming at the best res I can handle for ~$250 +/- $25. TIA!

Best options are R9 270X for ~$200 or GTX 760 for ~$250. You may be able to get a 7970 for around your target price if you're patient or willing to buy used.

Since they seem to be pretty well matched in performance, between say the GTX760 and the 7950, which will put out less heat in general use and be more power efficient for when I am NOT gaming?

at idle the temps and power draw are probably about the same, not enough difference to drive a decision.

sell the gtx275 for $30, apply towards a 7970.
